Pick 4 and a future first for Butters.

Keep pick 3 for Robey/Sharp
Reckon the future 1st is what would get their attention, they would get a top 5 pick this year and expect it be another next year given our list

I doubt they would get a better offer from a club he was prepared to play at. Let's face it, the world would be stunned if he nominated any of the other lower Vic teams like Essendon, Norf, Melb or Carlton

Improvement and development is not linear. We arguably should have won a couple more games this season so if we win in and around 5 again it is what it is.
If the club has a plan in place in terms of recruitment and development I'm happy for them to stick with it.
If it was me, I'd shift strategies to recruit a Humphrey if he wanted to come to us.

I also don't see how you can say "every other team is getting better "now" except us". Collingwood are only getting worse. Port are going backwards. Essendon are losing their best player and are missing out on trade targets. Carlton have lost their best ruck and are recruiting certified list cloggers.

Sometimes it feels like you just say things without thinking sometimes lol

100% correct. Our improvement this year was not a sign of linear improvement.

I really can't see the club genuinely improving for 2-3 years - I think we'll likely be asking for a compo package sooner than later too. And i can almost guarantee we wont get it either

Lets just go through the league.
Geelong, Lions, Giants, Suns, Dogs, Hawks, Freo, Adelaide, Swans are all teams we are not going to get better than in the next 3 years. Miles ahead of us.

Port & Pies might get worse, but with Daicos & Butters I don't see them getting "Richmond/North" bad. Both teams will use Free Agency to ensure that doesn't happen & still have a hell of a lot more going on with their list to suggest they can be "good now" some weeks. People are writing off the Pie's, but lets be real here. Do you really think they wont play finals next year? I wouldn't beat against it

Eagles are going to have pick 2,3 plus 3-4 other picks in the top 30, while also adding 2 starting KPD's in Young & Starsavich. They are going to get better.

North, just logically, have to get better with the age of their group

Saints have hit Free Agency hard and will be better

Carlton are maybe going to get worse, but with Weitering , McKay, Walsh, Jagga, Cerra, Cripps, Saad - they are not going to get as bad as us. They had a terrible year, but that midfield still has top 5 in the league potential based on age, talent etc.

Essendon might get worse, granted. But that is just 1 team. With Draper & possibly Merrett going tho, they are going to likely end up with 3, possibly 4 top 10 picks.

Teams around us are getting better i mean. Eagles are going to have a better draft hand than we had last year this season. Saints are going to be way better. North will likely get better (they can't get worse).

I think come the end of 2027, we could be talking about how Richmond hasn't won more than 5 games in a season for 4 years & with Tassie taking over the draft - i think we are in deep shit. Club needed to be far more bold than we have been imo

Brisbane playing hardball over Starcevich trade by threatening to reduce the offer on Allen.

Could end up disasterious for West Coast where they miss out on pick 2.

Will probably go through with 23 + Brisbane upgrade their 1st to West Coast's Hawthorn-linked first.

I'd actaully argue we should have won less games. I thought our wins were results of grinding versus "exploding", often completely on the back of older players. Its funny how supporters like to call our close losses "potential wins", without acknowledging that our "close wins" were easily potential loses. I don't reckon Carlton people would look at their Round 1 loss to us as some sort of "unwinnable" game. They would certainly look at it as a win they threw away - which is far more accurate.

There are more teams being bold this year to "get better" before the Devils get in place. I'd just like to see the club do something a bit more than looking at the draft. It can be your priority, but there is several different ways to "get better" for a reason, playing only 1 card when you have 4 just seems uninspiring to me.

This is a silly take based on a bunch of factors.

Richmond hasnt gone hard enough on FAs...

We specifically went the other way last season, so that we would load up on a super draft... to get these FA, it would have compromised our draft hand, which in turn would have been a short term sugar hit to the detriment of long term development.

Teams around us are getting better west coasts draft hand this year compared to ours last year... lol

... quite simply... Richmond hasn't been an attractive FA destination due to our rebuild. Of course, a side like St kilda are more attractive destination, due to having a better list/ladder position. Why would a FA go to us... and be in the bottom 4 for a couple of years, when they could go to the saints, get paid a bucket and probably play finals.

We had what, 10 picks over 2 years in the top 20? To get 2 top flight FA ot would have cost a minimum of 3 of those... to finish where? 12th to 16th over the next 3 years and then have no picks in the compromised drafts?

Lol. How’d your predictions for this year go? You’d be loaded from betting since you can pick how everyone will do right.

Talk me through this.
How will the Eagles have 5 or 6 picks in the top 30 AND get Young and Starcevich?

Once you’ve done that I’d be keen to hear how that draft hand this year is better than ours last year in a superior draft.
