Recommitted Jake Rogers [OOC 2026] – gauged interest with rival clubs in 2025, stayed

Could be the 'player' that unlocks the Petracca deal? Makes a bit of sense if he wants midfield time – I'd hope Melbourne asks the question, at least. Would make a nice 1-2 punch with Pickett rotating between the midfield and forward line.

Yes please!

The kid has some serious talent. I can't see the Suns being willing to part with him but would be very happy if the Swans asked the question.

When the AFL gifts a club access to so many top picks eventually some start looking elsewhere for opportunities.

Suns will be trading out players and accessing top 5 picks for a long time to come.

Doesn't help that most of their academy picks are mids. Only so many you can fit into a side before they start looking elsewhere.

Wants to play midfield, is a lovely kick. Don’t want to lose him but if he won’t player half forward then we don’t have a spot for him

He’s contracted so would have to be a good offer
So a 172cm mid and what does he weigh in at 70kg?
Doubt he gets a starting mid role at too many clubs at his build?

Don't you have your own academy?
We do indeed, doesn't change the fact that I'd love to have Rogers at the Swans.

He's basically a right foot Errol Gulden.

Swans were the ones that bid on him in the 2023 draft, and Mark McVeigh was his Allies coach in his draft year.

He's too small to be a midfielder. Serong is small for a mid and he's three inches taller than Jake. There's only so much he can do at 172cm when there are guys a whole head taller than him lining up to shove him out the way.

I understand it's not exactly oranges for oranges but has a build/profile very similar to Kozzie and we were prepared to throw the kitchen sink at him?

He's a centimetre taller than Pickett, so if he can put on some muscle, there's no reason he can't play midfield given he has pace and is hard at it (from what I've seen, at least).

I don't think height is such a concern when you have his talent

171cm - Kozzy Pickett
172cm - Jake Rogers, Brent Daniels
173cm - Liam Baker
175cm - Errol Gulden, Dayne Zorko, Dion Prestia

He could be a full time mid, he could be a winger who comes inside, he could rotate between the forward line and midfield.
With his speed, decision making, and kicking, he'd be a great get for anybody.

I dont think he has the frame at his size to be mid. Kozzie is almost as wide as he is tall and is the exception to the rule. If he genuinely wants to play mid hes going to have very options.

If he just wants gametime, I hope Freo called him immediately
Really? The kid is a nugget every time I've seen him. His endurance was questioned in his draft year, and is probably still an issue, but an image search of him shows he has genuine size. He is not scared of the weight room.

Exactly, and he is not skinny at all. Great kick, delivery, fast. Personally, I will be pissed if he leaves (next year).

No reason he can't spend significant minutes in the middle especially in 1-2 years.
