Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Or could it be that Charlie has little time or inclination to speak to the coach. Or maybe they're both to blame for the fractured relationship. Either way, the club has chosen to back in Voss for at least another season, if Charlie don't like it, then leave. :)

I understand the sentiment but geez I hope the club know what they’re doing here. I fear they’ve ****ed this up and we’re gonna be a club in no man’s land for the next five years.

We cut into the list heavily last year and in the words of GW it’s probably told on us.

This year we’re losing TDK, SOS, DOC and most likely ELIJAH, ACRES & GOV…that’s a fair number out of our best 22. Throw in a player like CURNOW and it seems absolute madness to me.

I just struggle to comprehend the club’s thinking here - if as it seems they’re open to it.

We’ve fallen into the mentality that a couple of picks in a bad draft and a B grade player is good compensation. We find ourselves now convinced on hacks like Ainsworth who will struggle to get a game at the Suns next year.
C’mon guys…

Be ruthless here.

Curnow, if fit, will kick 80 goals next year with Gulden & Blakey kicking the ball to him.

Don’t trade your unicorns! Find a way to make it work. Don’t be defeatist on Charlie. Don’t give up on the situation. Get the leaders around to Camp Curnow and smoke the peace pipe…now!

Where is it that Acres is heading to?
WCE?

Has this all been off him being dropped mid-season?
Or is he acting the pillock with others leaving??

Absolute bullshit if Sydney don't want to include Hayward in any trade...

What is with these idiotic clubs wanting to target a gun key forward with 4 years remaining on his contract, yet don't want to lose anything?

Not how it works morons... you're gonna have to pay up if you want him, we aren't letting him go for a pack of chips.
I reckon they are prepared pay, they are just stringing us along as much as they can in the hope we'll let them off the hook.
Anything extra they keep is a bonus.

I don't know why anyone is worried about Charlie getting to Geelong. If he gets there, they've paid us what we want. We're not getting screwed here, we have all the cards.
And if we get what we're happy with, then why

Heading there next month. So freaking excited.

Open to any travel tips from posters....
I used to be a tour guide there if you need anything.

My 2c on a few players mentioned:

Reidy - perfect very low cost 3rd ruck option with some chance he could improve. Good recruiting.

Khamis - I like him as some swingman depth at a lowish cost. Will play back id imagine next year. I think he can be a player. Good recruiting.

Chesser - Not overly impressed that hes much and seemingly made of crepe paper. He is the type of player we require though. There is a chance he can prove me wrong though, so worth a low cost chance. Not holding my breath.

Hayward - I am a big fan. Type of player that winning teams have a few of. Enough ability/skill to turn the odd match and quite frequently turn momentum. But beyond that, a hard working player willing to put the team first and do defensive things and provide energy. Not a star, but a very good player.

Ainsworth - Inherently selfish player. Came into the League as a "matchwinner" and has tried to be that player ever since. But he's not that. A bit of selfishness at times is good in a player, especially a forward. But to me he is in the mould of a Gresham or an Owies, where it is detrimental to everything team. Me, is their only thought, but Me, can't and doesnt deliver much. A no from me.

Florent - Has been a handy to good player during his career. But dropped right away this year to the point of being dropped for substantial time. For some reason he caught my eye early in the season and i didn't like the way he was playing. All risk, a bit timid, no care, and leaving others to try to clean up. I remember saying to myself "this guy is done and will be dropped soon". And he was. Now carrying too much contract years and money for his worth. I don't think GW likes that.

Spewing that GC are focusing on Petracca and JUH. They had the best trade capital for CC
Same. Humphrey is really the only player I see (of those mentioned) that we actually need. Sure, others mentioned could be better than what we have but they don't move the needle as much as Humphrey who is Exactly what we need.

lol

“We want Curnow but don’t wanna give anything up for him”

Piss off then
All recruiters try and squeeze the maximum but given GCS/Swans/Cats are simply not prepared to give up anything of substance, I'm not sure why Austin just doesn't shut up shop and say "call me when you have something of substance".

That said, I still have a gut feeling Geelong will offer up something reasonable towards the end of the trade period.
