Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Simple feedback to Charlie:

They don’t rate ya mate. After all the bullshit talk. After all the courting. You’re worth the equivalent of pick 5 in a shit draft.

He should literally sack his manager. His manager didn’t do the work to make sure these dumb arse clubs would come to the table. These are token offers. Both Sydney and Geelong know their offers will be rejected.

Charlie and his manager are the fools here. Suck. ****en. Shit.

Even then, they are saying we will have to match with 2 picks only. If Cody is bid on at #1, then we have to match with something like #5 and #10. It's a massive guessing game which makes it unfair. The fact that free agency compo for other teams can ruin your hand is also grossly unfair. They need to preserve the original value of the picks you hold, regardless of where they end up. So if you hold Pick 8 and it drifts out to 11, you can still count the points attached to Pick 8.

They clearly didn't think it through properly...

Clubs push back because of this...

  • FA compo picks impact the value of your picks
  • The bid position is unknown and therefore very difficult to plan for, clubs essentially always have to plan for the worst
  • Encourages tanking
  • Encourages draft manipulation
  • pick 5 + 10 is usually value for a top player at their peak
  • it will drive the price up of peak top players too in the future

There's probably more issues with it that I've missed, but my bet is, they're struggling to come up with a way to make their proposed system work given all the spanners clubs have thrown back at them... which is why we haven't heard anything official yet...

Hey Andrew Mackie - just quietly you'd better increase it ;)

To be fair, players who are mates but play for different clubs often train together this time of the year so it's not unusual. Agree on both of them being pea hearts, I'd add pea brain as well.
So is there a world where we keep CC or has that ship sailed?
So if you think that about Curnow in what world would you like us to keep him?

How many times is this nonsense going to be spouted out on here?

Official trade:

#13 + #15 + #20 + F4 -> Cameron + F2(Giants) + F2(*)

Those F2's ended up being: #32 + #35

Cameron's value worked out around pick #6.

If you're not happy with 2 picks in the teens, why use the Cameron trade as an example? Hayward is better than a pick 20 + F4 and we're not sending two F2's back the other way either...

Need to cool your jets and realise what that actually helps us do:

1. Package #10 + #11 for a better pick in this year's draft, or another F1.
2. Combine our 2026 1st with F1(Swans) to match the Cody bid. Left over points could get us another pick in that draft too
3. Provide a decent medium forward with experience

It's nowhere near as bad as you're making out.

We have obv been posturing... we can't show any weakness otherwise other clubs would come to us with even worse offers... it's a smart and obvious move from Carlton to deny wanting to trade him unless we got a head turning offer...

Let's say we walk away, and King Charles sooks it up again next year... his trade value drops even further.
And Ned Flanders was pick 7…. Let Charlie sook it up, odds are Voss will be gone by the bye next year anyways.

Yeh, Saints are skewing the pricing for players right now with their… uhhh… aggressive and exciting (?) approach.

If Neddy is worth 7, Charlie is worth 7 and… and…

And Weller was pick 2...

It doesn't work that way...

Unfortunately, Charlie doesn't want to go to WCE... we are dealing with teams that he would be willing to go to. They can't offer us what they don't have.

Let Charlie sook it up means even worse offers next year. Are we prepared for that?
