Seeing as you’ve spoken to Clarkson and Rawlings, What are north asking?

What?

He’s their captain and contracted until 2029

It doesn’t take “inside knowledge” to know they’ll be wanting at least a first rounder at minimum as part of the deal.

Which imo is already not worth it for us given we’ll need every first rounder we can get next year for Butters if we’re seriously going to have a crack at him

Nick is no fool, he also has his father to guide him as well. His pay will go up as he ages. Nick also knows if he fleeces his club, we won't have room for other guns, for us to be at the pointy end each season.
Greed is what causes clubs to buckle, common sense is the way and Nick has a good head on his shoulders to know that his payday will come soon enough.
The Saints will have a few good players but their lowest players will be shite, making their strength around the ground have holes like Swiss cheese.
Top end salaries appear to have gone through the roof since he re-signed. I'd expect a re-negotiation at some stage

Maybe use this advice to posting

North fans views on Simpkin worth:
  • straight Quaynor - Simpkin swap
  • McCreery and their future first for Simpkin and a second
  • 2026 F1 and 27 F1 with perhaps a minor pick or two going back to them
  • future First and fringeish player
  • at least a top 10 pick for him
  • Pay 70% of his salary and try and leverage 26 and 27 first rounders
At those prices I would run, not walk, away.
Ummm..... What?
After careful review of the north board. .

Norf wants to get rid of him, hardly in a position to demand much. He's a victim of bad recruitment. That's what you get when you have a hundred first round picks and you take all midfielders.

There is some nuance to this. It is advisable that we don't allow Naicos' contract to drift too far from the top of the competition salary heap.

Essendon signed Zach Merret to an insanely low contract a few years ago and probably celebrated getting such a steal...until he started to become disgruntled and they had to renegotiate his contract anyway. And now he wants to leave.
Nick's still young, he'll get his big payday on his next contract, he knows this.
Merrett agreed to his deal when he should've asked for more. Bad management there. The age difference between the 2 is 8 years.
Nick has plenty of time. The one thing he doesn't want, is being a burden on the club cap. He values premierships more.
Merrett is old and wants to win a premiership, he won't get that at Essendon.

All whilst gleefully pushing him out the door!

They should be committed

It will definitely happen. But it needs to be based on keeping his salary somewhat in-line with other top players so he doesn't become disgruntled and not based on some potential nonsense Tassie bluff.

There is no chance he will make the same mistake as GAJ.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate Charlie Spargo choosing to go to North - none of this would be possible without him.
