absolute amateur hour by us this year, no plan, strategy or groundwork…. Real scattergun approach. If it’s Simpkin, prefer we just keep our money. Somehow, we can’t make the most of being the biggest club in the country.
All the trades we've done disgust me.

I mean he’s got a point. You’d hope though that we’re doing regular check ins with Nick to ensure he remains happy and to remind him why he’s taken unders.
Nick is no fool, he also has his father to guide him as well. His pay will go up as he ages. Nick also knows if he fleeces his club, we won't have room for other guns, for us to be at the pointy end each season.
Greed is what causes clubs to buckle, common sense is the way and Nick has a good head on his shoulders to know that his payday will come soon enough.
The Saints will have a few good players but their lowest players will be shite, making their strength around the ground have holes like Swiss cheese.

If there's one reporter I can't stand, more than any other, it's Damian Barrett.
Have you read what he said about Leppa and Nick?
He's trying his best to steer us to overload our cap space, w***er he is.

Does he have the same advice for Brisbane and W Ashcroft or the Dogs with S Darcy?

Ashcroft has just won consecutive Norm Smiths and is most certainly living up to his junior reputation like Daicos.

Darcy will be the best KPF in the game at some stage during his career.

Nick is contracted until the end of 2029 and most likely his salary will increase in line with any TPP increase during this time if his manager was any good.

I personally would keep the future third in next year's draft, which is supposedly deep. Melbourne are heading for a rebuild, so good chance it ends up being a pick in the 40's.

Don't think there are too many academy selections next year, maybe wrong on that.

Would trade our future third for buller , and not the dees.

He would if they came to play for us, otherwise he'll just praise them like the knob he is.

There is some nuance to this. It is advisable that we don't allow Naicos' contract to drift too far from the top of the competition salary heap.

Essendon signed Zach Merret to an insanely low contract a few years ago and probably celebrated getting such a steal...until he started to become disgruntled and they had to renegotiate his contract anyway. And now he wants to leave.

You literally just want us to trade for Simpkin just for the sake of it.

Sometimes its better to do nothing, then to do something negative.

Future first pretty much does that, especially after the last few years.

Means players like Butters, King are less likely to select us, knowing we can't do a trade if they match a free agency offer.
Whatever will we do without our late teens draft selections!

Butters isn’t selecting us anyway

Look his management will be well aware of where we stand and when we plan on starting official negotiations.

Given that his contract will be a hefty one , both in terms of length and annual value, there will be a lot of other things that will need to be sorted out .

Especially if we plan on being serious in going after someone like butters , who likely will command at least 1.7mill a year.

Nick's time will come , we just have to sort out other things first.

North fans views on Simpkin worth:
  • straight Quaynor - Simpkin swap
  • McCreery and their future first for Simpkin and a second
  • 2026 F1 and 27 F1 with perhaps a minor pick or two going back to them
  • future First and fringeish player
  • at least a top 10 pick for him
  • Pay 70% of his salary and try and leverage 26 and 27 first rounders
At those prices I would run, not walk, away.
