Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Tim Mitchell on X (no idea who he is) proposing/suggesting Roberts, Hayward and 2026 R1 for Charlie. Slightly better but I'd rather McInerney. Roberts a rising star, just don't think - with Chesser in - we need another HBF. Esp. with Newy back.

Though it might allow us to get rid of Ollie from the backline and back to the wing...

Chesser is a wing or half back, as is Roberts. So far his best position has been wing imo.

I too would rather McInerney but both have some flexibility.

Newman will be 33 and coming off a serious injury. I'm far from confident about his longevity.

Of course they're different... is that supposed to be a revelation of some sort?

Reality is, we are still way too reliant on a core group of 30+ yr olds...

Bringing in one of the best players sounds nice on paper, but like 2008, the squad isn't in the right bracket to be landing a big star (IMO to please WalshistheGOAT ). We'd have to sell the farm in terms of trade and stump up a massive chunk of our cap.

For what? To cling to a feint hope that the aging core group around him who have proven to be perennial losers continue to stink it up until they retire? No thanks.

There's also the risk to piss Walsh off, like others have already mentioned, look at what the Stains had to do when they're loyal players saw all these big $$$ deals being bandied around for players outside their system...

So we risk losing Walsh, we risk losing insurance to match the Cody bid and we end up nowhere... or maybe we'll meet some people's very low bar of "making finals" ...

Stop being obtuse.

Our 2008 squad was shithouse when we got Judd.

Our current squad is not shit. Clearly an obvious point.

You said getting Judd and not winning a flag was the benchmark essentially. So has every trade the past 30 years been a failure then?
