All that happens is the losing club gets nothing and the asking club gets the player for free.

That's total baloney re Hately, that was all down to Jason McCartney, Adelaide put a reasonable offer for Hately who incidentally couldn't get a game at the Giants but McCartney (wanted more) was busy with other deals on the final day of trade week and never got back to the Crows before the deadline As it turned out the Crows got him for his true value as an AFL player...Zero.

Ah-Chee would be a safer bet than a speculative pick likely to be pick 16+

How the Crows get to that (20-25 points wise) only they will know what's planned

Didn't Adelaide turn down pick 12 and 30 from Brisbane for Tippett, as well as an opportunity to be bailed out of their dodgy side deal in his contract, in exchange for a financial sanction and losing their first two picks in the 2013 draft?

He’s a solid role player, not a top-30 asset. No one outside Brisbane rates him as ‘one of the best utilities in the league’. A future 2nd is already generous for a 28-year-old depth option who’s played his best footy as the 18th man in a stacked side.

Reality check: he’s out of contract, wants to leave, and the Crows hold the leverage. The PSD threat works both ways.

You probably wouldn't understand this considering your club completely bombed in the finals, but you need players who can cover multiple positions in any moment of the game in order to contend and win the flag. That's what Ah Chee gives. He's worth a top pick purely because he gives you a better shot at winning in the finals.
