Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

As it stands we paid overs for Ainsworth and unders for Chesser and very unders for Reidy so it's a breakeven at this point in regards to what we paid for what we got, but now have a decent good kicking HFF and a high potential wingman half back with a pretty decent backup ruckman potential number 1 ruckman.

And we are only getting started, lets see what the CC trade brings and we still have the likes of Khamis and CJ to consider. The players involved in the CC trade will be the deciding factor on whether it's a win this trade period given the circumstances presented

13 possessions average. 1 goal a game. That's poor. How do these stats warrant a second round pick for a 28 year old.?

Goal a game for a half forward flank is about normal, right? Had a quieter year this year in the disposal front, but prior to that was generally around 16 touches a game, which I suspect also stacks up with a lot of mid range half forward flankers.

For what it's worth, 15 touches and 1.3 goals a game is Cam Rayner.
15 touches and 1 goal a game is Bailey Humphrey.
14 touches and less than a goal a game is Lachy Schultz.

I think you're simply over-rating the future second. It's about the going rate for established role players who do their job consistently.

I know that pick could be the next Errol Gulden. But it's a hell of a lot more likely to be the next Caleb Poulter or...Corey Durdin.

I was hoping we'd pay less for Ainsworth on the grounds of him being a salary dump. But maybe we've just misread the situation and GC weren't as desperate to offload him as we thought. Happy to let him go, and he was hoping to go, but perhaps not critical for them to do so.

Swans 1, F1, McInerney and WH I can get around. Do Florent separately as we are doing them a favour

McInerney has to be involved in the Charlie trade surely..

Him on one wing and Chesser on the other and we have far better ball movement and kicking skill on our wings to improve delivery into our forward 50.

Rowbottom is a nice player but he's not a need. Prefer McInerney, Hayward, Campbell as options over him for what we need to improve the balance of our list.
Going to be very interesting what they put on the dinner plate with there offer

Thank god you're not list manager. What a defeatist, weak attitude our club would be were we to simply accept that.
That's no better than the Cats offer overnight. Like we need another slow midfielder such as Rowbottom (who averaged just 16 touches this year). You know you've got an ordinary list when you're celebrating good 'tacklers'.

Time for some Carlton arrogance in this standoff. Pony up with some serious A grade talent, or **** off!

I reckon we're in pretty good hands with Wright at the helm. He's been on these rodeo rides before.

Odds would say Charlie is traded but still think the club might hold him for another 12 months at least...
I didn't say I'd except it did I
I always have said I would want Blakey for our needs

I suggest you go and watch a game where Khamis was playing defence then get back to me. Even Dogs supporters saying he's a forward, not a defender.

If we're getting Khamis in as the 3rd marking forward, then that would make more sense imo, but only if we're getting him for a large packet of Samboys.

Either way, it's not really a discussion point, with Davies saying we're not in the picture for Aleer.
Where did I mention Khamis here? My post was regarding Aleer if you read it.

What more do you want from a small forward??

Ignore people that have no idea how hard it is to average 20 disposals + 1 goal / game...

Dusty went at about 22D + 1.2G / game in 2021...

13D + 1G /game average is actually very good...

Look at our current small forwards, Fog, Mots etc. nowhere near 1 goal /game, Ben is a pretty good upgrade.

Plays as a very effective defensive midfielder. I think we should all keep in mind that the stats and analysis of a player that carry any weight at all are kept under lock and key by the clubs and champion data. We as punters only really have access to these basics averages that tell you next to nothing of how much impact a player has on a game.

I'm not worried about losing Durdin for basically nothing. I'm happy for the guy that he gets to go home.

He was capable of some real highlights, but a player with a spot in the 23 needs to show more consistency.

I was hoping for something like this so that Will White, a die-hard Blue, had a greater chance to survive.

Hows that for a 180.

He didn’t want to leave Victoria when he was first drafted… and now he’s not too keen on coming back!

Though, to be fair, that was probably before Jacinta Allen took office.
To be fair he was back in VIC earlier in the week according to his grandmas neighbour. Probably saw the machete and jeep ban in malls and decided its time to head back to the harbour.

I'd like to see how Ainsworth goes as a deeper forward. In his draft yr he was touted as a powerful small forward with scope to play midfield as he developed.

The midfield part hasn't come on, but what did seem to happen was he player more as a HFF and even some wing at times. I'd like to see him play deep forward as a genuine small forward more. He can be crafty around goals but often has played up-field.

Signing off for the day so I can actually get some work done.

We gotta remember that in order for us to get full value out of a Charlie deal, Austin is gonna need time to trade out our pick 10 and 11 for better value elsewhere.

You'd expect if any movement on Charlie, it'll be no later than Tuesday afternoon now.

Wait and see. Enjoy the weekend all. I am spent after today.
