Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I don't mind the acquisition of Ainsworth as a replacement for Durdin because he's basically Durdin but 4 years older. However, not exactly thrilled that we just slightly upgraded whilst hitting our salary cap a little harder for a lateral move. Hopefully there's more in the works. I like that we are at least active this trade period.

Geeze I don't know how people think...
I will take anyone that has good disposal
He has better disposal than our current in and under types? I think no. Who are you dropping to make way for him in the side?

We need pace and more dynamism on the outside, Cripps and Hewett aren't the problem.

Ainsworth has a few things that we need. He's pretty durable, he's a pretty good field kick (not a great set shot on goal though) and he's significantly better than anyone else that we have for his role whose name isn't Elijah Hollands.

Love the Austin/Wright strategy. We've had too much reliance on our top 6 stars, lose one of them (who turned out to be a sook) a couple of mid rangers and replace them with people who make us better in areas of need and a few potential A grade kids. And relieve our salary cap pressure. Funnily enough similar to what Wright did at the pies.
We are also trying (I assume) to develop a forward strategy more varied than kick to Chuck/Harry in a contest and hope for the best. Players like this help with that.

It's certainly doing what Wright said, getting more B/C graders in.

I'll hold off on too much judgement until the end of the trade period.

We'll likely get very good overs from Charlie so it's not really the end of the world if we've paid a bit more than we should have for Ainsworth.

I have watched a lot of Sydney and his defensive work in the middle is a big reason why Gulden, Heeney, and Warner are so effective offensively. Stats don't show that. He is a very underrated player imo. He's playing a similar role to Josh Dunkley who has been one of the more underappreciated players in the AFL.

Would be a great get for a lot of clubs but just not for Carlton given our over-abundance of inside midfieldeds

Slightly upgraded? Durdin was playing twos half the year?

I thought this too - his defensive mid work seems great. Tackling machine... Wonder how Gulden, Heeney and Warner go without him in the middle?

Seems like a very solid meat and potatoes type midfielder. Given role, does role.
