Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If we come away with Cheeser Ainsworth Reidy Khamis and one of Rowbottom/Hayward/Campbell plus a First Rounder to add to TDK to turn into Top 4-5 pick plus F1 to help get Walker plus some picks for Dean Ison along with Salary Cap room for future and only lose Charlie & Durdin (and some later picks) that is a fantastic trade period and sets us up for next decade

We have achieved what we set out to do and really adds to our youth

I would be very happy
Oh that HAS to be his new nickname!!!

So saints say Marshall won’t be traded full stop so why can’t we do the same with Charlie and just end it.

Same scenario disgruntled player.

Neither.
I still think this is where things will likely end up at the end of the trade period. The Club needs to stand firm and accept nothing less than what it believes he's worth. Happy with how we are dealing with it so far.

In: Ainsworth, Chesser, Hayward, Khamis, Reidy, Dean, Ison, Robey (if we trade up), F1, cap space for FA in 26/27

Out: Curnow, TDK, JSOS, Durdin, Future 2nd

That’s honestly a decent effort and doesn’t include any other players in the Charlie trade. I haven’t included EH or Doc as they were both cooked this year (in different ways).

We also have Jagga and Newman to come back plus a shot at setting some new standards. I’m choosing to be optimistic.

We still have Weitering, Walsh, Cripps, McKay as A graders which is more than enough if surrounded by more B/B+ types and depth of squad.

Question for those in the know: Is it true that Charlie's contract was front-ended? And if he goes to another club, does his salary re-set higher to "market", or does it stay where it is? I think if its the former, should Charlie have to re-pay the club the overpayments in the first years of his contract? If its the latter, should the club he goes to have to pay a chunk of the salary of whomever they send across to us....to balance out that they are paying unders in their salary cap for Charlie.
Perhaps I'm over-complicating things. I just think the club needs to be compensated by somebody if a player on a front-loaded contract decides later on he wants to move on.

From Rookieme re Chesser

POSITION: Balanced Midfielder/Defender

SNAPSHOT: "A speedy and productive mover on the outside, Chesser breaks the lines from half-back or the wing but has also shown a good balance in his ball winning."

STRENGTHS:
  • Speed
  • Kicking
  • Class
  • Versatility
  • Outside run
  • Breaking the lines

IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Contested game
  • Tackling

Also mentions he has footy nous.

Ticks the boxes that we need to improve on.

Obviously injury history is not great.
touch wood, surgery should have resolved his ankle issues....

11, 32 (khamis) F1 and Hayward for Curnow and F3

Pick 10 & 11 to Tigers for Pick 4

How you getting Dean at that point? I don't think 22 does the job.

My view, if we're sitting on 10 and 11, I'd be reasonably happy to just take them to the draft. Covers an unexpectedly early bid for Dean, and the later the bid the more likely we are to retain a pick in the early teens.

The alternative might be 10 and 22 for Pick 7 or 8 from GC. Improves their hand by 150-250pts. If we don't think Richmond or Essendon will bid on Dean then that could work. Draft a kid at 7 or 8, match a subsequent Dean bid with 11.

The debate then is on, say, Pick 7, versus Pick 11 and 22. List spots come into play, but looking at the draft board I think the two picks might be the better play.

Agree. Add Cottrell and Kemp. I expect a few of Wilson, Campo twins, Lord, Carroll, HOF, HOK, Moir, Charleson,
Flynn, White to step up as well

I hope Ollie Motlop Cowan Boyd can go to level I expect from them

Our kids will thrive and improve a lot better with more mature players around them. This along with better standards and culture is the key

Remember though - we have to decide to trade him so the onus is on us. If we agree to trade him then we wear the font-ending.

Is anyone confident Reidy will overtake Pitto for R1?
Hopefully he can be another Lloyd Meek story after leaving Freo, but I haven’t seen anything overly impressive in highlights packages and thought he was genuinely woeful in his single game this year.

Bugger all given up for him and worth a shy at the stumps. Would love to be proven very wrong but just don’t see it

2022: 3rd in B&F, Swans Runner Up
2023: 3rd in B&F, Swans Elim Final exit
2024: 6th in B&F, Swans Runner Up
2025: 8th in B&F, Swans outside the 8

If we're baulking at a player from a great football environment that's proven himself in a midfield of Warner, Heeney and Gulden for the better part of the last 4-5 years, then we've got rocks in our head.
Proven himself.in a midfield he'll never cop any attention and has speed galore surrounding him? Absolutely does not mean a thing in terms of suitability or translation to Rowbottom playing in navy blue. Cripps Hewett Cerra and Rowbottom cannot coexist. Cannot.

I still hold hope that the club will hold Charlie to his contract. Will Hayward or James Rowbottom do not excite me

Still so much to play out in every way, shape and form.
Expect the unexpected by the end of this trade period imo
if cc is traded and we get a fair deal made we’ll go into 2026 with much better depth and list balance.

Tge ruck role may be an issue but may not too - we’ll see
