Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Someone on the Pies board suggested their F1 for Buller and Rowbottom.

I am dreaming of this, its almost worth trading Curnow just to have a Collingwood deathriding thread just as they are about to fall off a cliff.

Swans:
Out: Curnow, Carlton 2026 R3
In: Rowbottom, Buller, Hayward, Sydney 2025+2026 R1

Pies:
Out: Rowbottom, Buller
In: Pies 2026 R1

Carlton:
Out: Hayward, Sydney 2025+2026 R1, Pies 2026 R1
In: Curnow, Carlton 2026 R3

I think that counts as blowing us away
Can't see Sydney agreeing to that.

This is true.

Especially given the issues we have now in having to expose Cooper Lord on a wing at times to be able to fit him into the same midfield as Cripps/Hewett. It’s the same reason we got rid of Kennedy.

Any chance the thinking is to limit Cripps time in the midfield and have him spend more time in the F50?

Doesn’t sound like he’s on our radar but things can change quickly.
Reckon they’ll support Weitering next season with a mix of Haynes, Dean, Khamis and Young.

Possibly :
Saad Weitering Dean
Cowan Haynes Newman

Would like some more pace included if/when possible.

Perhaps going forward :
Wilson Weitering Dean
Cowan O’Farrell Chesser

If we trade up in the draft a player like Lindsay might be of interest.
Khamis can play off the new 5 man bench as a genuine swingman at either end where needed …

Honestly I'd be disappointed if that's what it looked like in Rd 1.

Yeah I get that. It definitely is a huge price to pay. But there has been suggestions of them trading Rowbottom, Hayward, and their two picks to us and this is actually better than that for them, as they need points next year for academy players and I doubt they'll do better than our F3 for Buller on his own.

Feels to me like Hayward is (smartly) straddling the line between being happy to come to us, and “reluctant” just in case he stays a swan. Perfectly messaged, unlike Charlie.
Charlie's manager is an absolute dickhead the way he's handled the whole messaging thing. If Charlie doesn't go anywhere this year, he has a shitload of arsekissing to do next year to get back in peoples good books. 10 goals against both the Cats and the Swans would be a good start I reckon.

You need to swap the "In" and "Out" around, but that deal would be awesome!

Cleary reported Rowbottom spoke with Collingwood coach Craig McRae on Friday night.

That’s despite Rowbottom currently being on a holiday with Swans teammate Nick Blakey, according to Code Sports, who shared an Instagram story of Rowbottom with the caption “My brother for life (heart). Loyal (heart).”

Sigh

Okay Swans, you drive a hard bargain. We will take Rowbottom and Blakey.

Won’t be any of those but we will get picks and a couple of very handy players.

We are setting ourselves up to be a finals side for next decade ala Cats

The youth we have and will have by time Walker comes in is very impressive and all done before Tasmania start draining draft

For the first time we are surrounding youth with group of seasoned bodies and developing competition for spots. Finally

Are we going to challenge Geelong brown paper bag for brown paper bag?

That would be blowing us away in every sense of the word. Even if we had to chuck something else in as steak knives I'd love to get a hold of the Pies F1

Rowbottom is an inside mid, last year we got rid of Matt Kennedy because we had too many inside mids. Why would we lose a key forward to recruit another inside mid? Hayward is a forward flanker, good player but realistically we have a number of players we could roll through there. Going the other way we would be giving up a generational talent, 2 x Coleman medalist Key position forward. We only have one other key forward and on average he will miss games. We no longer have TDK to throw up front; all we would have left would be undersized swingmen like Kemp and maybe Khamis if that deal goes through. make it make sense, surely we are after another key forward, we even delisted our project forward in Lemmy. If Charlie goes, we are seriously undermanned for key forwards.

Stains were the only ones willing to pay that kind of money for TDK and it's mostly because Silvagni's ego... TDK was a player he drafted...

You watch when he doesn't perform anywhere near that how much shit TDK and the club will cop.

No responsible club will offer that much for an average ruck.

Even if Williams' contract was front loaded... it was a ridiculous pay packet and he's never delivered on it. Not once. I can't wait till it's up and we can put our cap to much better use...
I don't think we should be blaming Williams. Our club offered the contract. He has performed as well as his body has allowed him to. I'm sure he is just as disappointed that he hasn't lived up to the club's or his expectations. There doesn't seem to have been any issues with his attitude just injuries and maybe everyone was wearing rose coloured glasses when he came to us. I thought he was a relatively bright light this year in the forward line. Don't know about the pay but I think he certainly earned his place in the side this year.

His brother is already here and he's "clearly not getting it right" now.

Point stands if he’s going to be a long term AFL player I think it has to be at Carlton.

Would be a shame and a waste of talent if his career ends here.

If we were able to afford to pay out/trade binns and fogarty that would be a win.
Fogarty is a good role player had a very average year but is a very good depth player as a pressure forward i really dont think Voss utilises him well enough, all the people say move on acres fogarty and bins these are the players we need for depth or again we are going to cut the list to deep and when injurys come again we are screwed
