Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Would be happy to see this pan out:

Curnow for Pick 11, future first, Hayward and [something].

Pick 10 and [something] for Walter and a future second.

22 for Khamis and 32.

11 covers Dean.
32 covers Ison.

2026 - our first, Sydney's first, GC's second - should provide enough of a platform to set up a draft hand that gets Walker. Worst case, might need to package them up with a future pick or two, or shift another couple of players on, but it's a solid starting point to work with.

2026 Best 23:
Newman, Weitering, Haynes
Carroll, Cowan, Saad
Hollands, Walsh, Chesser
Pittonet, Cripps, Smith
Hayward, McKay, Ainsworth
Moir, Walter, Williams
I/C: Cerra, Hewett, Kemp, Evans, Khamis
EMG: Wilson, Lord, HOK

Would then love to see Newman and Saad pushed out by kids by year's end. Haynes probaboy plays all year with HOF out, Dean starting in the ressies and challenged to push past Khamis.

Forgotten man, Cottrell. Feel like he should play, but not sure whose spot he takes and could see him just becoming solid, loyal depth.

Not an overly young side, but one that I think could push into the 8 while cycling some kids through 3-5 spots in any given week.

I'd hope they have spoken to WC to see if #10 and #11 for #2 is an option.
And take #2 to Port for Butters.

Remember what Wright said about our list. It was top heavy and we needed more role players (I'm paraphrasing, but you know what I'm talking about). Bearing that in mind I feel we can rule out a play for Butters. I think GW would like us to spread our picks out to balance our squad this year, and perhaps even next year. Expect more Ainsworth types.

Adding quality players like Hayward, Humphrey and Walter on top of Ainsworth during this offseason would be a significant upgrade on what we had this year running around in our forward line. Our forward line and our forward/midfield connection has been a mess in recent years, this offseason could be the opportunity to finally do something to address it. I really like the options this whole situation with CC has presented the club. Time for Austin to work some magic 🪄

Would also enable us to give our list a big clean out. Which is good for cap space and list spots. Oh, and it would give our team one hell of a lift.

Would fix those connection issues and improve our ball movement, retention in the forward half and scoring. It would also open the forward line up as having more aerially strong forwards who read the game better means we have more options to go to and it prevents teams crowding our big targets and forces opposition to go one on one rather than get numbers to where we kick to all the time.

Can't see why we wouldn't throw a nothing-pick at Melbourne to get May in once everything else is done.
12 months of May certainly helps our cause. He's a free hit.
We're pretty tight for list spots and therefore more likely to fill this need via the rookie list IMO - rookie draft or SSP for a state league or delisted defender

Think 6 + 21 from Essendon will be more likely.

Can’t see WCE or Richmond bidding on Dean. Uwland, Annable and Patterson should go before him, so we should be expecting a bid from 8-10.

21+22 will be enough.

Butters and Port will wait until next year if he decides to move.

Good question!

I'd prefer Humphrey...

About 8 years ago I stated my view about where the game was heading, that having a mix of hybrid mid/fwds and med fwds would be the way to go over having 2 kpf beasts in the forward line.

You look at the Lions, zero reliance on a key forward to step up for them...

Bailey, Rayner, Lohmann, Cameron etc..

They had 2 kids as their key targets, Geelong had Cameron + Neale and they did fa including during the tight first half.

I'd be quite happy with this:

Ainsworth Kemp Humphrey
Hayward McKay Moir

with HOK, Williams, Motlop as depth...

Agreed the more mobile, multi pronged, skilled forward line is proving to be very effective and dangerous today.
Humphrey would be awesome.

But if GC point blank refuses any advances for Humphrey, Walter does have appeal for Carlton.
McKay, for a variety of reasons, has rarely put together full seasons.
Walter would be more than handy riding shotgun for Harry in the now before maturing into the main man in his own right in the future.
Either way, exciting prospects for Carlton if we were able to do business …

If no suitable trade eventuates and we end up keeping Charlie what would be the plan to be able to get Dean and Ison this year and Cody next ?

Putting aside what happens with Rowbottom and any implications for us.

11, F1 and Hayward as a minimum*

Package up 10 and 11 to GC for Humphrey (won’t need them due to Dean bid/weaker draft - GC may need them for deals with Melb and points matching).
I know some have been claiming Humphrey is becoming more overrated the longer trade week(s) drag on, but I think he would be transformative for us.

Kicks goals, creates for others (equal 8th in league for goal assists), tackles hard and often. Would probably have to go back to Ashman to find a similar 'type' in Navy Blue.

3 days to go. My body is ready.
This has got a few more twists and turns to go, always something we haven’t heard pops up. Especially in a deal for such a top player. Kemp last year was a quite late development in itself.
Still a chance CC stays but I think more likely we get something we agree with and trade him
