Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Agree, not the sort of personality you bring into a club undergoing a significant culture reset.
Gawn and Lever have both said they have had multiple blowout on field with him, but it's usually heat of the moment stuff and they know it's because he is a 'hot head' trying to cover defense rather than a bad egg.
Mind you, I don't think the Melksham would agree.

What would you be willing to trade for Butters assuming Port match any bid (because we all know they will)
I think two firsts plus cerra would “turn their heads” although something we need to come back with butters

Having said all that, I wonder if it would be right for us to do in any event.

If no suitable trade eventuates and we end up keeping Charlie what would be the plan to be able to get Dean and Ison this year and Cody next ?
Use our TdK pick to move back and ideally get a 2nd this and next year.
Use our 2 x 2nd next year to trade down? Also, trade Gov and Acres and get something worth while.

Ps. The AFL can’t possible change the rules and screw us. That to me is a real ‘legal’ issue that we need to address separately.

Just my thoughts.

I think Humphrey is the obvious one we really stick our nose in, if in fact he’s really wanting to come home.
Hasn’t been that much smoke around butters seriously wanting to come home.
Humphrey this year, butters next year.
Would be an absolute dream.

GWS only offering Aleer base salary and asking for a F2.
The thing with Khamis is versatility which we are losing with JSOS and (potentially) Gov.
I'd probably like to know which players come in from any Curnow deal before committing either way.
Tbh I don’t know that JSOS or McG were all that successful as swingmen in practice. I like how Hawks target a KPD need and get Barass.

With Aleer I like the idea of succession planning in the KD area with Dean (18) cutting his teeth, HOF (19) recovering from injury, Aleer (24) and Weiters (28).
A good spread of ages to allow Dean and HOF to develop and take over in the future.

Putting aside what happens with Rowbottom and any implications for us.

11, F1 and Hayward as a minimum*

Package up 10 and 11 to GC for Humphrey (won’t need them due to Dean bid/weaker draft - GC may need them for deals with Melb and points matching).

Bank the Sydney F1 for Walker (with ours)

Net gain;

Hayward, Humphries, Dean, Ison, Ainsworth, Chesser + Walker points

Go hard at McInerny as a free agent next year with all of our banked $$ from TDK/Charlie and bring him home

FWIW I think the swans will offer more to the above get Charlie - so anything else would be a bonus.

Edit: would need to find another pick to add to the SOS compo to match Dean/Ison bids.
I was thinking similar. Possibly even squeezing pick 32 from the Swans as well as 11, F1 and Hayward if we throw a 2026 3rd back at them or even a 2027 2nd - gives us extra points for the bids this year.

Can't see how GCS can get a trade done for Petracca with the picks they currently have if they also want to get their academy boys. If we could convince Humphrey to head over to us, picks 10 and 11 should do the trick, and gives them capital for the Petracca trade.

So pick 10 and 11 to GCS for Humphrey, and see if Austin can use his charm to get their pick 36 back in the deal.

We can only dream, but would give us picks 22, 32 and 36 going into the draft to match bids.

Just no love for him from our very own. Disappointing but not much more he can do.
Maybe if he was played in his rightful position it might help some? :p
I know I’m being harsh on him but it’s what I think would be the carrot to win over port

Butt yes agree, that trade could be a robbing Peter to pay paul scenario

I know some have been claiming Humphrey is becoming more overrated the longer trade week(s) drag on, but I think he would be transformative for us.

Kicks goals, creates for others (equal 8th in league for goal assists), tackles hard and often. Would probably have to go back to Ashman to find a similar 'type' in Navy Blue.

In fairness, I mentioned yesterday that I think he’s starting to get a bit overrated.

That said, given our draft hand and where Dean is generally rated (along with how even this draft class is) he still represents better value than what we’d likely get otherwise.

I just think he's very 'Vanilla' and that's when his body is right.
he's not a play-maker, he's not full of pace, he's not really a ball winner, he's really only reliable to do his job when played on the ball. When we don't have a multitude of injuries we usually cover him no probs.

He's OK but he doesn't move the needle much IMO.

Forget the Cats. Sydney wouldn't be blowing up their list without some form of assurance from Carlton. Telling contracted players to look elsewhere 4 days before the trade window closes? There would be an agreed expected outcome and Sydney are going all out to achieve it.
The Cats had their shot and they came up short.

Sydney wouldnt be doing that without an assurance from Charlie. Thats the important part.

Good luck with that.

The AFL is an organisation lacking any sense of forward planning and makes decisions without any degree of transparency or logic.

Perfect example is the recent retrospective change to the trading out of future picks or the yearly handout out of priority/compensatory picks.

Clubs actually try to plan ahead (eg Carlton with Walker) yet are at the mercy of the capricious nature of the AFL, who as I understand still haven't laid down clear bidding rules for next year's draft.

Hey not as if what you need to do next year would have any implications for your trading this year.

Life long Carlton supporter comes home to play for us and will take over from Cripps once he is done because of his age profile.
