Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I find it believable that Humphrey wants out.
A little less so that he wants to come to Carlton, but if he does, then great. The part I think is very unlikely is GC letting him go. I think they can get Trac and their academy guys in without losing Humphrey
How do they do that??

Hayward McKay Motlop
Ainsworth Kemp Humphrey

With Evans, Lij and Williams rolling through

Geez
It still feels a bit to me like the year we decided we needed wingers with endurance, so we traded for Acres and drafted O Hollands. Then with our next pick we decided, “oh to hell with it,” and drafted Binns for more of the same.

If high half forward was all that was wrong with our list, then I’d probably be up for Humphrey, Hayward, and Ainsworth in one offseason. But I would like to hope we have identified other areas of need as well.

And yes, Hayward and Humphrey are both high quality players.

Nice...but we're goanna be chock-a-block with handy forwards.
Harry
Hok
Kemp
Buku
Moir
FRANKIE
Humphrey
Hayward
Eli
Ainsworth
Williams
Mots
Fog

Flynn
White

A bloody good, mobile forward half logjam starting to form.
Hayward doesn't really need to be part of the Charlie trade, just more future picks.
Also, can't see Jagger being squeezed in here.
The only best 22 players here are Harry, Humphrey, Ainsworth, Hayward and Williams, the rest need to improve

I think the other area of our game is just another midfielder with genuine break from the centre square speed. Tough ask for jagga to be that fix in he's 2nd year.
Also some speed and quality ball use off half back aswell

If Charlie goes who is the starting 2nd Key Forward round 1 next year? HOK, Lewis Young or McGovern if he stays?

I can’t see Humphrey being part of any deal, GC has been resolute that he’s off the table this year. If anything he’d unlock the petracca trade and go to Melbourne. It’s nice to dream of a scenario where we turn Charlie into a future first and Hayward and Humphrey but I just can’t see it.

Jagga next season followed by Cody Walker who has a January birthday and is (broadly speaking) AFL ready now is going to fill this space soon enough.

While we do not have a standout rebounding distributor off half back, we are fairly well off in that space. Cowan, Carroll, Wilson and even untried Charleson are good users by foot. Cowan and Carroll are under rated with their ability to hit 50+ metre targets to break the line. Ollie is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde disposal wise (in the early Doc mode), more hit than miss for mine, and has his strengths. Chesser more likely to assume a wing, but can play off HB and likely a big upgrade.

Ainsworth interview on trade radio just now, said he’d been speaking with crippa over the past few weeks and looking forward to playing with him……

So its been in the pipeline, good that there’s no leaks !

I’ve seen a few posters suggesting a trade which ends up netting us both Humphrey and Hayward.

I realise most of these posts are guesses rather than rumours. But my question is on whether there is value in bringing in both players?

Don’t get me wrong… they are players who would add to our list. And I have them as different types of half forward. But after we’ve already taken Ainsworth, my gut feel is the other two would be overkill in that part of the ground, especially when picks could allow us to target other areas of need. Happy to be corrected by more insightful observers of both players.

Yep we may be overcorrecting for our big weakness last year - kicking in the forward half - and end up with 15 half forward flankers.

But I see Humphrey in a different category where he could end up as a Dusty type mid. Not at that level obviously but the role.

And Hayward is easily better than any of the small / medium forwards on our list.

As much as we enjoyed ITK rumours in the past, the amount of leaks pointed towards a dysfunctional club.

Who knows what else GW and Nick have been working on?

Interesting to see the GW impact so far. I think he mentioned in an interview the list was too top heavy. Seems to be addressing that quite quickly.

Could end up with a vastly different team in round 1 to what we've seen. Hopefully one with 22 blokes who can kick.
