Traded Tylar Young [Traded to West Coast for Pick #38]

You expect Young to come second in our BnF do you?

Or crack the AFL top 100 like Edwards?
Nice twisting of his words.

If they thought he was of similar ability to Baker, they'd be wanting a similar trade result, and while 14 and 41 have the same digits, they're not of similar value (especially when you factor in the quality of the drafts).

So maybe, just maybe, the comment was regarding WCE fans drastically underrating players they're trying to draft in when trying to assess their trade value.

When 34 always seemed a bit high, and 53 seemed too low....Then it makes sense that one of 38 or 41 seems about right.

Not worth having a coronary about a late 2nd in a weak draft, especially when the alternatives just a few picks away.
This guys gets it.

How many empty main list spots are Richmond likely to have before the draft? McIntosh? Kosi? How many do they have waiting on contracts. If they are looking at splitting pick 3 or 4 they’d be getting tight?

Na plenty of options for us. Could go with 2 x extra on the senior list instead of rookies if we wanted to.

A good get for the Eagles.
If he stays healthy he’s a lock for key position defender for them for the next three years.

Based on his last 7 games will be a loss for the Tigers short term but it gives opportunity for Gibcus or Grey to take that spot long term.

Don’t rate this open draft beyond the first dozen picks so hope a club comes calling for it on draft night and we shift it to a 2026 pick.

Well done Westcoast. Got a ripper there. Tylar looked a completely new player when he returned from injury this year. He’s a very underrated athlete and his kicking was much improved this year too.

I suspect you all will look back in 12 months from now at this trade and give it a pretty big ✅
I seriously didn't want to lose him. His kicking can be sublime. WC fans will be thrilled with this pickup by about half way through next season.

Maybe a chance with stalemates elsewhere of another player falling through perhaps?

Slight overpay but thats what we do
Not sure it is in this years draft.
And considering other trades is about right.

Chesser for pick 41 - he’s the one that could put egg on West Coasts face but a small sample size of 4 decent games means he really could go either way.

Ainsworth for 29 - good player but at his age really the sort of type who you want to add to complete a list for a flag tilt.

Ryan and a F3 (50s) for a F2 (30s) - as with Ainsworth.

Young for 38 if he stays fit will play 60 solid but unassuming games for the Eagles. Exactly what they need at this stage of the rebuild.

Why?

We don't need the pick and if we waited until the PSD, he couldn't officially join the club until late November.

This way he can start day 1 of preseason.
I'm only stirring the fans who continually argued WC should not trade anything of value for Young.

I wonder if this will let Ginbey play in the middle or is his future set in the back six?

Seems to be a waste of his prodigious athletic talents to not give him a crack in the guts, especially while Harley/Hewett still builds up their tanks. Could rotate the three of them off a HFF/midfield.

Tylar Young is a retirement-age spud not worth a packet of chips and the Richmond mole Matt Clarke paid a premium asset for him. If he shows anything next year it will entirely because of West Coast's development staff.

Am I doing the trade forum right?

Anyway... seems like an interesting money ball get. Averaged close to 30m gained per kick last season, which is decent. Would be a bonus to have someone who can both neutralise and rebound.
