2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

I'm reading a lot into an interview, but Humphrey's manager was respectful of Suns but certainly gave enough to suggest he may still try to get a late trade done.

I'm trying to manifest it, but I wonder if our future 1st, Geelongs F1 and Butler would turn their head?
Why do people here think? that Butler wants to go to the Suns & play under Hardwick, baffling.

It's all part of making mackie sweat bullets.

He thinks we are bluffing- and are (secretly) keen to move marshall on.

I think we are serious as a heartattack about keeping him unless we get a really awesome deal.

The best way to get an awesome deal out of the cats is to make them panic.

Going AWOL until the very last minute is a pretty good way to make someone panic.

After the gf disaster, the cats are desperate for marshall- lets see what they panic offer us tomorrow
There's a slim possibility that we walked away from Aleer to underline to Geelong that we're serious about how we value Marshall. Up until that point Geelong would have assumed we're desperate for a second rounder to on trade for Aleer.

I like to think Gubby pulled out some box cutters and diced the Aleer offer, while staring straight in to Andrew Mackies eyes.

Have we got liam ryan yet

Appreciate it Joff, disclaimer though, take my analysis with a grain of salt.
None of us really know that much, it is all just opinion, but at least we have eyeballs on the players and if a number of us pick up on something ( like Hall last preseason) can least give an idea of what's going on.
Really I'm a mug punter who is fortunate enough to have the time to go. I do like to get over to the rehab group as I know the supporters would like to know progress on the injured.

I'm finding it a little bit strange that there has literally been zero comms from St Kilda.

Sure, they are bunkering down to weather the storm, but the silence is strange. Did we actually come out and say we are done, or what that just journo speak?
Gubby said we were not done
Delina implied that we were probably done
Take your pick.

So Hawks are threatening Essendon to accept their deal for Merrett by 7.00pm tonight or they will trade their pick 9.

Pick 9 is in the table. Reckon we trade Battle for it. Do you reckon they will twig?

Or as we call it, the Lethlean/Satan strategy

We've said he isnt being traded. What needs updated about that stance?
The fact every journo worth their job has said that Geelong are going to circle back and they believe a deal gets done.

Edmund hasn't.

And given Mitch Cleary sounded like a toddler having a tantrum on every topic relating to us on that podcast, I suspect his Geelong membership may have been talking there.

Its up to them and them only who they go into season 2026 i their ruck.

Apparently we are not asking for anything specific, they said no to pick 19 and when Mackie asked them what they wanted, they wouldn't say, basically you come back with your best offer probably a F1 and a player (not a Hustwaite type spud either).
Up to Mackie to make the deal not us asking for anything. We have what we want in Marshall.
Love that, hope Saints stick to it.
F... Geelong's privileged arrogance
