He has the tools to be good, its just putting everything together consistently.

Makes many crucial errors at inopportune times. If he was more composed, he'd be much better.

After 8 years of down the line footy I’m all in on a bloke who wouldn’t even be able to comprehend that instruction.

Dealing with Hawthorn not Essendon

We play fair

Trading an absolute hack who the club doesn’t want VS reigning BnF skipper who is contracted and we want to retain.

Don’t let facts get in the way though.

Traded 3x premiership peak Hawk 25 years young Brad Hill to Freo for peanuts to help him get home.

When we lose good players we don’t half as much as offered for Merrett.

CJ plays better off a HBF, he knows his role and is more confident in it there.

In his preferred position at HBF I think you will find his disposal will be better than it has been with the hawks for last few years.

Not ideal for the sub role, needs to start the game to get the feel early. Doesn’t seem to pick up the pace coming on later in a game.

A good human being and club man to have around the club, bit of a DJ at training as well.

Jayden Hunt reincarnated
The opposite actually. Hunt was good for a Frostball style chaos run once per game, but couldn't do much else. CJ on the other hand is a decent defender, but not great at all when he gets too far up the ground on one his trademark runs.

Going to a team where he can play his preferred role off half-back, with the game in front of him where he uses his incredible endurance, pace and leap to get to contests that most can't, you'll find that he is pretty handy, actually.

Most Hawks supporters will bag him because he just wasn't much good as a wingman. Looked lost. I really wish him the best.

The Western Bulldogs must always have a surplus Hawthorn defender on our list, it is the only way. With Taylor Duryea retiring after the delisting or retiring of Tim O'Brien and Matt Suckling over the last several years, I fully expect CJ to be in red white and blue next year.

I am not excited for this.

Seamus Mitchell is still out of contract so you still have hope lol

Yeah never picked up the wingman role, would of been awesome if he could of with his pace..

Does he have super long fingers though? 🤔

Hes fast, a poor decision maker and average kick. Bit like Jayden Hunt...

I actually think there is a very good footballer in CJ.

He plays his best when he's confident in his body (which unfortunately he hasn't been for a very long time) and he's got confidence in his place in a side. He played his best footy with a defined role as a defender who can roll off his man and come over the top.

We've got way too many options to play this role who are better than CJ. He's been forced to defend 1 on 1 which is not his forte or play on a wing which he just lacks the IQ for and leaves too many gaps in positioning. Was too reliant on his athleticism to make it up.

If he can get a settled role at the Dees I can see him becoming a very solid B grader.
