Carlton has rejected Swans offer, over the return of #22. See if Swans budge on that.

Essendon rejecting Hawks outright on Zach Merrett.

Seems like Petracca and Oliver the most likely to proceed. I presume GWS will eventually cough up what is required to make it work. Demons won't really want Clarry back after this.

Until GWS performs on the biggest stage, the media will always throw up doubts. And realistically, until we win a flag, they'll be right.

The growth in the forward line would come from Cadman developing further, and if Jesse can have an uninterrupted season, probably with some cameos from Stringer also having minimal interruptions.

Defensively, it would be if we can get a full season out of Taylor and Buckley, plus growth from Fonti and Ash (being consistent across the season would be the main point, plus eliminating more of his errors).

The biggest upside though will be Oliver added to the midfield, and fixing our problems in the contest game, especially from centre bounces. If we can win more ball such that our defence is not always trying to repel opposition attacks, that could be huge for us. Otherwise, if Binga can get right, then returning him for some midfield speed, continued growth from Finn, and getting more improvement from Angove and Angwin such that we have Ash/Whitfield/Fonti handing it to options from Finn/Binga/Angove/Angwin ... if we can get that right, then Jesse/Toby/Cadman/Stringer will benefit.

That can be our improvement, but will it be?

There will also hopefully be continued improvement from the next level down in Madden, Rowsten, Gothard, Leake, Ough, Oliver, Aleer such that when they get called in to cover injuries, we don't drop off too much.

I think the team needs some more flexibility - currently we are very predictable in the way we line up and the way we play.
Cats and Lions can swing players around depending on the match-ups and game.

Also think Madden could be a player and will put pressure on for the primary ruck position.
Agreed! LOVE MADDEN

Wow, looking like Ollie Florent traded from Swans independent of the Curnow deal ... for a future 3rd round pick! Of course, there may still be an intrinsic link to a Curnow trade if it gets over the line.

The opposite of Leek's case there, getting screwed by your own club. Sitting there post-season all happy in the Harbour City - then BAM! GONE!

Good! More power to the clubs I say. Time to make this industry more brutal

Cogs having an uninterrupted preseason and not getting random injuries through the year would help.He still could play an effective role as mid and half forward if this happens. Most importantly though Daniels needs luck on the injury front.
Santa is more likely to pay me a visit in November than having injury free seasons from both Daniels and Cogs haha

Hard to argue with this best 22. Two questions were raised which I think were genuinely good ones:
1- where is the growth coming from?
2- can this team stay fit?

Oliver is a massive in and adds to our weakest line imo
Biggest growth is that we can stop teams getting on a run against us.

The last 18 months, if a team got on a run we couldn’t stop it cause the ball would go back to the centre each time they scored and then take it away for another goal. Made it hard for us to punish poor sides as well.

Hopefully Melbourne haven't backtracked on their commitment to pay up to half his salary
Think it maybe about who pays what each year. Not necessarily evenly

I reckon that's where midfield depth plays a part. If you only have a couple of stars in there, they play for longer and get worn down by the workload across a season and late in games.

One of the reasons the lions are so strong late in games when they need to be, is that they bat about 6 deep in there of A graders that can go through. Mccluggage, Dunkley, Neale, Ashcroft, Rayner, Bailey (Berry).

Plus they have the younger Ashcroft and Fletcher who is a jet who certainly has the potential to step into the midfield. No team goes near them in terms of quality and depth.
