What Adelaide nuffies don't realise is the picks offered are useless for us matching Academy players and we wouldn't use them to draft players as we don't need what would be fillers on the list, so if we traded for that ridiculous offer we would have got nothing anyway.

Except the picks offered were of value to Adelaide.

Kind of says a bit about the inequity of the system hey

Don't tell me you guys have another top 10 Academy draftee next year????

That draft picks that were significant to Adelaide were virtually irrelevant to Brisbane, because both teams are playing by two entirely different sets of rules regarding the draft.

I don’t think those picks were significant to you. I think they are essentially junk to both of us.

Interesting that Ah Chee is nominating for the PSD not the ND. Can you not nominate terms in the ND? I wouldve thought there is low chance someone picks Ah Chee before Adelaide's pick 40 or whatever in the ND however teams would be more likely to grab him for free in the PSD.

Two kids who potentially are late first round talents, plus Cooper Hodge.

I don’t expect Adelaide nuffies to be across the new draft rules for next year, or the potential draft pool, but your offer was worth four fifths of **** all to us.

There are potentially 6 first round father son and academy kids in next year’s draft. 7 if Port get access to Cochrane.

That blows the first round out to pick 25 before we start factoring in compensation picks.

Then there’s a heap more kids rated as second round prospects.

When Lions fans are saying what you offered for Ah Chee is worth **** all, we mean it.

The new rules make it really ****ing hard to trade up, especially if the picks are outside the first round. And there is absolutely no incentive to trade back for points or collect “extra” picks, because of the requirement to match bids with just 2 picks.

We needed your first round pick, even if it was via a pick slide, where you got our pick 23 in return, so we could split it across 2025 & 2026. Or we needed a top 25 pick in 2026 from you, and you weren’t offering that.

Brisbane offer was they wanted 2026 F2 and 2027 F2......these nuffie Brisbane supporters head would have exploded lol.

So our counter offers were F2 + a slide from 16 to 23 (or) F2 2026 and F2 2027. Adelaide didn't want to do either. Joke's on them. Justin Reid would've got the shock of someone standing his ground and saying a flat no to his pesky offer for once.

I can't believe Dom was actually pretty accommodating in the end asking for 2 seconds to let Ah Chee go. 2027 2nd is tassie diluted and equal to a third pretty much. Dom has been pretty flexible after all.

I would've punted Justin Reid's ass out the door if he didn't have a first rounder in some form (points, pick slide whatever) included as part of any offer.

Glad to see all the PSD clubs slowly waking up to the fact that a dual premiership player is available for a free hit on cap.

West Coast, Port Adelaide were the obvious ones.

Carlton now have the cap space thanks to Curnow moving on. Bombers - well bombers will take any good player to improve their list at this stage. There's hardly anyone still pulling the big bucks with all frontloaded contracts clearing books.

I don't see how Ah Chee's manager is going to bully 2 big victorian clubs. Ah Chee more than likely to end up in Victoria now. I'd say Saints will be a sneaky chance too as they were in full-on win now mode this off-season. Adding a dual premiership player for free? Gubby and SOS will have their grubby fingers all over it :tearsofjoy:

Can’t see another club drafting him if he’s adamant about going to Adelaide. Matt Clarke has already said it’s highly unlikely WC will go for Ah Chee, but surely the question will be asked.

If Ah Chee says no, or simply doesn’t talk to any clubs, I doubt a club would be reckless enough to sign him on the contract he specifies, which will be significant. Especially not without a medical or him actually wanting to be there.

I can see why Brisbane supporters would entertain the idea of him going to some other club, so Adelaide get sfa in the end just like Brisbane, but I don’t see it happening.

The idea that a f2 and a f3 means nothing to Brisbane is just entitled obliviousness and BS. Just because the rort of the academies is being toned down next year, doesn’t mean Adelaide’s offer is nothing. Picks can be traded and Brisbane could come up with a number of ways to use those picks, not like the nothing they receive now.

In the end, Brisbane could have accepted unders if for no other reason than to help Ah Chee on to Adelaide.

Well we'll find out soon either way.

There was an unders offer in the end of 2nd 2026 and 2027 2nd from Brisbane according to Tom Morris. Justin Reid thought we can be pushed even further and found out 😂

The picks they were offering is genuinely useless to us - there was zero reason for us to help Adelaide out with charity. They can figure out on their own now.

If Matt Clarke is already stepping aside from taking a free hit - you need a new list boss mate.
