Delisted Callum Ah Chee - Joins Adelaide via the PSD

Twomey said Ah Chee will not speak to any clubs to get to us, I doubt he would want to play for a bottom side otherwise why wouldn't he just go back to WA and play for West Coast on good money? Supposedly, he grew up a Crows supporter so I can see a Rankine situation here. Rankine didn't even bother speaking to Port Power.

we do have history doing it though
jmac hadnt talked or trained with us but we selected him before Richmond.

we have the cash, we have the need and going to the psd is a gamble for the player. At worst we get a tear from him and a free draft pick from Adelaide next year

$2.5M contract for 2 years up front to $2M for the first year????

And I’m sure the Crows have 10% of their salary cap just sitting free and will be looking to pay him 2M straight up as well.
We can always restructure the other players contracts backend. Like Twomey said, he will get to us in the PSD if he still wants to and given what his manager said, he is really pissed off with Brisbane.

By trading that 2027 F2 then limits the ability to trade the 2027 F1 next year and then having to try and find an F2 for 2027 when we would already be down our 2nd next year etc. So it makes a lot of sense why a F3 was also included
No it doesn’t, that rule has been changed, and Twomey reiterated this yesterday, and the AFL reminded clubs Tuesday.

The thing about the PSD is that it’s not really about what he wants anymore. He declared what he wanted and the clubs involved couldn’t agree, making him anyone’s game.

Other clubs can always restructure if need be to accomodate him as a freebie becomes enticing over a nobody rookie or empty list spot.

Gotta love the narrative from Northern clubs that 2nd round picks are less valuable because it's harder to use for points now. Hopefully finally these concessions kid shenanigans are nearly fixed

The narrative is that Adelaide’s 2nd round next year is less valuable because based on this year it will likely fall as a pick around 40. Pick 40 is trash for a player like Cal. It values him as a spud against someone like Tylar Young (who I’d never heard of).

Dom Ambrogio said he worked with other clubs to see if they would be interested trading for the picks Adelaide was proposing to give us (f2 and f3) but no one wanted them because they’d be junk.

I think you’re missing the point Snuffmaster!

You could contest my point if you'd like but I do not think it would go down well.

We aren't in the 90's anymore Soggy.
Once you stop getting handout from the AFL and stand on your own 2 feet then you can have a seat in the big clubs table with us. Look at how much the AFL give to individual clubs will tell you which are the big clubs.

What if Ah Chee structure his contract at $2.5M for the first 2 years up front to $2M in the first year......
That would negatively impact the Crows salary cap as well.

You would have to go to players, asking them to push back salary. That would impact your ability to fit future trades in to your salary cap.

Rankin was traded.

Now he needs to nominate a draft.

He gets to set terms. Not his destination.
What are you talking about? Did you read the article from Twomey??? Ah Chee will just decide not to talk to any clubs which was what Rankine did when he wanted to return back to SA, he didn't talk to Port Power so Ah Chee will just not talk to any clubs.

We offered NWM big money so have at least $1.3M next year. Will be easy to find another $700K by back ending $50K from 14 players.

We feel we needed that pick, I see your argument but those kinds of picks are still important to us.

We obviously see the pre season draft as a risk as we offered a reasonable deal to try to get it done. It's not like we offered a future 4th,

No one knows until the pre season draft is done.

Either way Brisbane probably let a down a good servant of the club who appeared to do everything right and was out of contract

If Crows still get him then all's good and everyone at the Crows should be comfortable with how it's been handled. If Port take him then we bungled it. Have to wait and see.
Yep, obviously the powers that be at Adelaide decided it was worth whatever risk the PSD represents to conserve pick 16. Personally I would say don’t chase a guy with a big contract and then not be prepared to pay fair price, but that is probably where our club biases come into play.

Didn’t stop Gold Coast from picking a Fremantle player in last year’s rookie draft.
