Elixuh mpal6 beatnik

I regret posting but I really had to reply to Mr Beatnik. I just dont have it in me to do this with you another night fellas. So, congratulations, or, I'm sorry that happened to you

RIP snuff. I thank you for enlightening me as to the value of slop late draft picks, and I’m sorry Freo traded out all of theirs for no reason in the starcevich deal.

I think Port and Carlton are the dark horses, Carlton having a massive cap opening with Curnow departure. Essendon too, bombers have been screaming for more readymade talent additions, Ah Chee will be a freebie blessing for them.

West Coast seem to be a bit soft and are already giving up on the chase. So weird for a club trying to get out of bottom of the ladder.
Blues could certainly do with a player of Ah Chee's talents up forward but doubt we'd be the club to take him. Just feel like we won't be wanting to upset anyone before the Dean and Walker bids over the next two years in the draft.

Ainsworth - ????????? - Williams
Hayward - McKay - Ah Chee

Would be a pretty handy set up to fill the hole Curnow will leave though. Never have to see that spud Motlop again too which would be a win for all neutral watchers.

900k 😂 where the hell have you pulled that number lmao?
Have just googled and I might have been wrong, seems the crows offered him between 8-900k so maybe he did take a discount to stay. If thats the case the Blues might have some $$ to spend. Still think its better spent on Butters in 12 months but thats me.

Blues just lost Curnow, TDK, JSOS, Docherty, McGoverns bloated contracts and Zac Williams absurd Free Agency contract finally finishes next year for us which was like 850k throughout or something disgusting.

Between all of them we should have plenty of cash free to make a play at Butters + whoever else. Butters basically a pipe dream at this stage though.

No doubt player agents will be wary of dealing with Brisbane going forward.
They've burnt a bridge across the whole industry for no apparent reason.
The Lions are shaking at the thought of 1990crow believing they have "burnt bridges".

Shaking I tell's ya.

Lions are making a statement to the football world and their own players that getting out of Brisbane will be a very uncomfortable experience.

Their list is primed for a 10 year premiership window and they want to keep the team together.

Picks in the 40’s and 50’s have no value to them. Quietly they are liking that Ah Chee is suffering a bit. It’s a warning to the rest of group.

Clubs will think twice about going after Lions players. As for player welfare they have failed big time.

I want to start with the fact that I really feel for Cal and wish a deal was done for everyone involved.

The lions have made a statement - but it is at Cal's expense so not a good one on a personal level for him and I really hope everything works out well for him and his family.

I think the statement though is 'make a reasonable offer for a player or it won't be a trade'. I said in the lions thread the Adelaide offer was essentially the same as the offers for Connor Budarick and Tylar Young, these players could be great additions to their new teams but they aren't players with finals experience and have a record of stepping up in big games and moments like Cal - which is an essential need for Adelaide.

My issue is with the "Brisbane has blocked a trade and are impossible to deal with" narrative. I think a lot of the angst should be at the player manager and Adelaide.

The manager has promised Cal a big contract and as he pointed out he has known for months - in all that time has he not thought about the fact that Cal on a big contract is worth a lot more than the players mentioned above and that Adelaide didn't have picks in the range that would be appropriate for such a valuable player? He should have been communicating with both parties to let them know where the other was at and have a plan of what would get the deal done or what it would actually looked like - isn't that a part of his job to be discussing players and trades with relevant list management teams?

If Brisbane have burnt bridges Adelaide have too. This has some parallels to what happened with Dawson from Sydney - Adelaide has made an offer now you other guys take it. Brisbane made offers and negotiated down from an initial starting point - crows said F2, oh we are negotiating well F2, the period is almost done and you haven't taken our initial offer we will give you a future F3 as well - it is more but very little.

At what point do the media and others think Brisbane should have rejected the offer and not be the bad guy? Eg If Adelaide said - we know Cal is worth more but we are offering a F3 - not good enough oh well we are confident the contract we are offering means no one else will pay him as much so will take him in the PSD so that's okay with us we will make the player wait rather than negotiate. Would there be the same angst against Brisbane in this case for rejecting the deal?

A reasonable offer was made. This is the industry's belief, not just mine.
Player managers look at Brisbane as being unreasonable, and not acting in good faith with their players wishes.

This will cause Brisbane issues going forward.

Player managers look at Adelaide as a club unwilling to make a reasonable compromise (which two, likely low, second rounders is), and instead has a plan B of threatening the PSD. This is a belief that people in the industry believe (see Kinnear Beaston's comments).

Adelaide came into the trade period targeting a midfielder and came out with a Finnbar Maley. In fact, Justin Reid announced via the media they decided to not pursue Oliver, only for his people to release the story that it was in fact Oliver who had no interest in Adelaide once GWS and Collingwood were options.

No doubt Cal's made a great start at his new club this week. Will be feeling really valued...

Luckily for Adelaide fans they can project their clubs failure onto the Lions for not accepting pick 40 for a 28 year old 2x premiership forward.

I'd love to see some rationale from Adelaide fans about Bernie Vince being traded for pick 23 when he was 28 and out of contract and playing very average football. Yet Cal is isnt worth the same trade?

Nah mate, you tried to bend us over and we said not interested.

Besides all the mud slinging, who else is getting involved and throwing their hat in the ring to nab him in the psd? Surely he doesn’t get all the way to Adelaide when there are plenty of clubs who could afford him.

No they don't. Industry has been consistently reporting the opposite.

Bernie Vince was contracted for a start, no trade going through means he would have stayed a Crow.

Bernie won Adelaide's B&F a few years prior to being traded

Bernie came 3rd in Melbourne's B&F in his first year there and won the B&F in his second year at Melbourne

Cal has yet to feature in a top 10 finish in Brisbane's B&F, so there's that

And he was still contracted

Apart from the fact you're talking about a trade that happened 12 years ago and has little relevance to the current trading landscape

Maybe get your facts right before spouting a load of rubbish.

Well taking Ah Chee's manager Ben Williams's response in the joint post trade interview he did with Adelaide list manager Justin Reid I'd say you couldn't be more wrong.

And Ben Williams by the way is one of the most respected player agents in the AFL landscape, one only needs to look at the plethora of stars he has on his books to know that, he's not at all like the smart arses Paul Connors and Colin Young etc. and their dubious tactics.

Amazing how uninformed some of these Lions tryhards are isn't it.

Oh yeah he was too!😅 Google failed me there!

Still pretty shitty from Adelaide... offer a fat 5 year contract to him and then offer up a late 2nd rd pick.

Not the nicest message to be sending to Cal. We rate you... but like... worth a late 2nd rd pick rate you.

What a crap way to join a club 💩

If Future players are choosing between Brisbane and Adelaide... i wonder if they'll consider the fact one club will get the trade done and the other is happy to drag you through the sewerage which is the PSD.

Heartless and unnecessary is how the wider public view Brisbane and their actions right now
