We won't be in any rush to fill every list hole in this off-season. There'll be plenty of 'panic' in here if we don't get leg speed or don't choose any pure mids etc... but the core of the list build will take another 2-3 years. And we might bypass midfield leg-speed and everyone will melt.......then we bring in Zac Bailey. Or leave ourselves light on for medium defenders..then we bring in Wilmott....and so on.... Keep in mind most 'big fish' acquisitions are 12-18 months in the making, so we probably already have a couple on the hook.
Dream on, zero chance we get Bailey or Wilmott

Ignore needs this draft and our hand will be even more forced by needs in future drafts. Already we're sort of seeing that where CDT will probably be best-available but we can't pick him because we loaded up on so many talls last year.

Trying to finalize our backline with Taylor when we need about 6 Grjls to balance our current list will make list management even harder going forwards.

My preference is sharp and CDT or I could get around Robey. Probably just take the 2 wce don't take and call it a day. Sharp sets a perfect balance to our midfield in a few yrs time. Sharp as the in and under mid getting it to lalor or smilie who are wonderful kicks is perfect, there's no need to have them doing the dirty work as they can utilise those strengths and then can have the 3rd mid as the pacey one, like hotton or Campbell or preferably a mid in next yrs draft. Robey could be a great 3rd tall fwd who switches in and out with Lalor making it a matchup nightmare. CDT if his ruck craft gets similar to nank will be a weapon.

Does anyone have any detailed intel on the types of players Tanner Armstrong, Daffy and Leys are? Explosive? Quick? Elite endurance? Tough? Mids or flankers? Keeping in mind we likely have a top-5 pick coming in addition to these NGA's and F/S, then if there's some speed on the horizon then getting speed this draft doesn't worry me and I'd be more inclined to favour Robey/Sharp over Grjl/Cumming types.
These might help!

These aside, I was chatting to Jack yesterday and he is looking at moving to the wing next year to utilise his pace and skill which is very exciting!

Daffy had a great second half of the year turning into a midfielder and changing the course of games.

Something else to consider with Grlj vs X Taylor debate.

What the club will be weighing up is, in these next 2 drafts is there another intercept defender as good or better than X. Taylor?

It’s a bit more of a specialised position.

Last year there were only really 2 in Tauru and Trainor.

Midfielders with pace will likely be more readily available in multiple drafts after.

How tall is Leys? He looks the most promising to me.

Think we need to have a conversation with Essendon if we don’t want to take him. We’re taking him unless you trade us pick 5, 23 and upgrade 38 to 30.
Sometimes silence is the best way

Just interview the boy another 2 times prior to the draft and speak to his manager like we really like him and the word will get back to Twomey and Essendon

I feel like the opposite is true. Midfielders with pace, especially good ones are harder to find than intercept defenders.

Maybe it's just me

Also top draft picks tend to be bigger-bodied inside-mids. So we're going to keep finishing bottom of the ladder because we're missing a bunch of speedsters, then there's no-one to pick in our range which fills our gap. Same with small forwards to some extent.

I have a feeling we're going to overlook Robey....
