Seems unlikely given we've got the worst midfield in the comp and loaded up on talls last year.

If, by 2 key position players you mean 2 players who aren't KPP, then it's a possibility.

• a few other things which I havent listed that are common sense

if you can stay away from the above you are half a chance

Third year is when a lot of kids really make a serious jump in their production. We will have 9 kids going into their 3rd season so could theoretically make a substantial jump that year.

The top 8 picks are held by teams needing to use them to rebuild. Pick 9 & 11, Carlton need to turn into points for Dean, Ison & Walker. Pick 10 Hawthorn probably the best bet with them looking to trade for players in the future so an extra asset being a Richmond F1 next year might be appealing when at the trade table.

Carlton don’t need to trade for futures for Walker. Walsh will be leaving as a FA and their pick next year + compo pick will suffice. This idea of making them pay to prevent them getting Walker is BS. Yes bid on Dean but it will not affect them getting Walker next year.

All I said was they need points in those 2 years, they wont trade 9 or 11 into 2027 where they already have 2 picks in a compromised draft.

Robey still playing essentially as a forward at that stage, I take it?

Yeah. He only went midfield once before finals, that was against chargers. Ranges were winning comfortably and oakleigh kicked first couple of last quarter to make it a game. Robey went in to centre and won next 3 centre clearances (though one was a kick off the side of boot not under a lot of pressure).
