Sponsors will love it = Extra Publicity

Club will probably believe that the extra visibility will help drive Memberships and Fan Engagement.
Better get some more prestigious sponsors out of it at least, not some car company no one outside China has heard of and will probably never buy and a local off-brand KFC

If it detracts from the players mental bandwidth at all then it is a cost. I can’t imagine some of those guys, Stocker, Hunter etc., being wrapt with a camera following them around. Then on the other hand, there might be some who use it to promote their ‘brand’, Mitch Robinson, Pretracca style. For most, I guess it’ll probably be just ‘noise’ - not pleasant but part of the professional sports landscape. A bit like media, turned up a notch.
Hopefully, it won’t turn into ‘Spinal Tap’ …from MCG to puppet show.

I really don't see the benefit of doing it.

Build hype and momentum, expose the players to media so that they get used to being in the spotlight etc. It promotes the club and helps sponsor feel like they are getting maximum value. Butters-up the media because you allow access etc. It's all winning. Better to die on your feet than live on your knees as they say. Keeping ourselves small isn't taking us anywhere.

The media don't want to piss clubs off by making them look bad. It will be pretty soft touch IMO.

Last year we were so small they didn’t even put us in the season promo ad.

Although, knowing the small-mindedness of the powers that be, they probably did it deliberately because they were pissed off with Bassat.
The fixture certainly told the tale.

I don’t mind all this extra attention. Now we just have to step up.
No excuses.

The only thing we need to do is win games. If it's a circus that costs us one behind that isn't good. But as Gringo said, it should be pretty light-weight, so maybe water off a duck's back.

Tbh more concerned about the Spuds game pre-game downer.
For heavens sake, make it more uplifting - caring for your mates, rather than another funereal ceremony.
Sucks the life out of the players.

Hyping yourself up is taboo in Commonwealth countries, it has the odour of the USA upon it. I can see why plenty are against it, if it was another club doing it I'd probably roll my eyes.

Personally I think its a great initiative for St Kilda, we need fresh blood in our fanbase (no offence). Winning helps but if we can accentuate that with a bit of time under the spotlight, it could do wonders for our demographic and maybe even increase attendance figures which should make people like Dimma happy (the boke who responded to the Nepo Baby label by telling us to get our own house in order due to only 13000 people bothering to show up for the Thurs night home game vs the Suns)

We have done the work to make ourselves attractive to the league and networks. We aren't sitting bottom 4 asking for handouts. We have a star player who is Hollywood, we have assembled a side that looks properly competitive, made the trade period razzle-dazzle, got the backroom sorted etc.

As long as we turn up on the park we have to be proud of what we have achieved since bringing back Lyon and deserve the spoils we receive. It's amazing how momentum creates more momentum.

The kids like the hype. I think that the tall poppy thing is for people over 30.

Gringo, I'm certainly not complaining about the positive outlook - I reckon it's great!

But I do feel compelled to check:

R U OK?

The kids like the hype.

Young people/players today have grown up with Social Media being the norm. Their lives are 24/7 involved in it .

Just hold your mobile phone up, and watch how everyone just naturally poses for a photo as a reflex.

The world they have grown up in is one is where everything is being recorded or livestreamed. They expect it, and are used to it.

Just look at Nas riding on Lyon's shoulders.

Yes the youth today are in the main more involved in displaying/sharing what they do.

I heard that we are looking for a new Shorts sponsor

I'm always in good spirits before disappointment sets in. Trade period is over, no major wounds and then the draft is still coming. I always have a good summer before turning into a monster again.

Wildcard winners won't be progressing too far into September purely based on game load compared with the Top 6 (even more so vs QF 1 & 2 winners)

Perhaps, but it gives the AFL some momentum going into the finals through that bye week which was terrible. As BTS mentioned it also creates a top 10, which keeps 2 more clubs & supporters interested for another week. A smart move by the AFL in my view.

There's a lot of players on the list, if some guys want to opt out then they will. I'm sure there's a few who'll be happy to do it.

Can’t win a flag without being in the spotlight and under pressure.

Isn’t the club also making another documentary as well? Or are these two projects in fact the same?
I thought it was the same.
