Personally I REALLY want one of Pickett or Dovaston, so I'm hoping it shakes out that way, but I'm just going off the goss around the traps as I don't claim to know much about the draftees other than a few highlights videos and articles.with the run and gun game King is keen on, I don't get why we'd overlook a speedster in Grlj for 2 slow guys. Or at the least average speed guys. Nairn and Farrow would be horrific with 7 and 8. but I do agree in that I think one will be Farrow and in about 5 years he'll be half as good as what McVee is. Yes, I'm being a bit flippant. I wouldn't hate Farrow. But Nairn at 7 or 8 isn't ideal.
Up to 4 votes already, at this rate by draft time hell be on 36 votes. ALSO INTERESTING.Also interesting, that he wasn’t even considered an option for the poll until today.

yeah. Has he though? Windsor stalled in year 2. JVR has stalled and now can't take chest marks. He failed on Laurie. He failed on Jefferson. He's looking to have failed on Tholstrup. That's 5 first rounders that are average or underwhelming. Throw in Howes. He's not the messiah of recruiting.Personally I REALLY want one of Pickett or Dovaston, so I'm hoping it shakes out that way, but I'm just going off the goss around the traps as I don't claim to know much about the draftees other than a few highlights videos and articles.
Let's be honest though, that's all any of us know really hey? So we can have strong opinions on what will be "horrific" but got to remember we've reached for players before and it turned out Taylor was on the money despite the phantom drafts going against him.
I for one, was very strong on going Tauru at last years draft and that would've helped up massively this year, but instead we're still in a massive hole defensively. Passing up a 15 year key position player who is probably the most athletic back in the league at 19 yrs old with 0 go-home factor was a huge oversight regardless of if others are happy with Langford. In my opinion of course.
I know we differ on this, and don't want to start the roundabout again, but for me:yeah. Has he though? Windsor stalled in year 2. JVR has stalled and now can't take chest marks. He failed on Laurie. I agree jH...they must have strong footy IQ firstly... and be able to kick the ball to advantage.I really don't give a rats who we draft , so long as they
1. Can hit a target under pressure and
2. know the difference between kicking to a forward and kicking at a forward .

The run and gun is designed to give our forwards a decent chance of winning the ball inside F50. So its not just pure speed from behind the ball, but smarts and skills.with the run and gun game King is keen on, I don't get why we'd overlook a speedster in Grlj for 2 slow guys. ... give yourself a smack to the back of your head, Scy.I haven't really been online for the past couple of weeks, busy period at work
Nah I agree with a lot of what you said. I'm just stating the alternate view because I think this idea that Jason Taylor is a gun recruiter is plain wrong. He is okay. But he's had a terrible few years.I know we differ on this, and don't want to start the roundabout again, but for me:
Windsor - Injury interrupted preseason and season regular. Played out of position. Looked WAY better once in the midfield.
JVR - Definitely stalled, but has also been crucified by the game style. Really hoping to see him leading from deep towards the ball carrier next season, rather than sprinting towards goal from defence.
Laurie - Dud. That draft was a shocker though and we were aiming for Holmes with that pick until Geelong did a late trade.
Jefferson - I'm probs odd one out, but I haven't written him off. Is a good pure leader at the ball, if the game style suits that next year he will improve a lot. Was always a slower burn player. Can understand the criticism though.
Tholstrup - The only one out of the players you've listed who we 'reached' for. Not sure you understood the assignment? I have a nagging belief in him, but hard to argue he's not looking any good thus far.
Howes - He was a pick 39. Hardly call that a 'reach'. Come on man.
Langford is 10,000 times the player Tauru is and will be. Only your pure stubbornness is stopping you seeing that.
When I talked about players we 'reached' for, we're talking Clarry (yeah bad now, but incredible draft pick), Kozzy (not in the top 30 of most not far out from the draft), Jackson, these are players we 'reached' for when on one else was as keen.
Langford 4th in the Rising Star. Where did Tauru place?90% of neutrals would take Tauru.
I agree with this. I mean, we don't want to draft a guy like Tsatas just because he's quick. I'll back the recruiters in terms of whoever we take but it won't take much for me to flip coz I'm slowly getting sick of Jason Taylor's picks. The run and gun is designed to give our forwards a decent chance of winning the ball inside F50. So its not just pure speed from behind the ball, but smarts and skills.
lHodge wasn't the quickest by leg, but he made up for that in spades. Obviously he played as a HBF'er, and midfield inside.
... tough, smart, and a nice kick to boot.
Your right Bl, I hadn't looked at him before just now, and he does look good. Seems like a hff, and maybe could go as aJust watched a little of Nairn. Not as much footage of him available but what I have seen he looks like a really solid mark, good kick and seems to have some decent footy smarts.

Those are some high standards. I think I would settle for being able to hit a target under no pressure, that would be new in our team.I really don't give a rats who we draft , so long as they

Dan on Tauru seems all hindsight based on one amazing game he had. I don't recall anyone big on Tauru certainly not over Langford.
