Great result tonight, not upset about sweid at all, the three players we drafted aren’t the fastest so would probably be more important for us to get some more speed in our side instead of a meatball.

disappointing, obviously, think he'll be a competent enough AFL player but in the end, no point mortgaging our future on one NGA picked in the middle of a poor draft class. the flow on effect into 2026 would be huge

Sweid is effective in that he knows his limits but he is very limited in his kicking. His kicking style is absolutely not suited to AFL level. Floaty kicks suck.

He's also a short midfielder and surely we've had enough trauma from small mids for a lifetime.

A real shame we miss out on Sweid - the benefit of these NGA guys is you do get the discount (despite it being a touch reduced now) which we have forgone. If it was going to effect next years first it had to be done though. At least he is going to a competitive team straight out of the gate, will be cheering him and Voss on next year.

the ability to play forward should have been enough to influence the decision, even if Adam doesnt make it as a full time mid, he has an ability fwd of the ball.

In the end its a business decision for the club and unfortunately we bid farewell to Adam

Sweid probably doesn't make much sense given we've already picked three blokes with the scope to play midfield

Deficit was giving up the equivalent of pick 41 next year. The only reason to not match is that Rosa really loves the board for day 2.

I think the most dissapointing thing about not matching sweid is more gresham next year.

Not worth the deficit but hoping we could have got something for a future 3rd. 2027 second or something.

I feel like the club really tried to condition everyone in the last week or so about the real possibility of us not matching bids. They kept putting it out there that it was a possibility, so it's not really a surprise. I honestly think it's a pretty mature thing to do - if we really don't think we can afford to match the bid then it's a good thing we don't just because we feel like we "should".

Best of luck to Adam at Freo though. I kinda hope Huss goes with him to Freo now so they can stick together at least
