For the record he played for Werribee in the VFL this year towards the end of the season. Had it 15 times, 6 marks and 4 tackles.

Putting in a shift like that in your first game at VFL level isn't easy. As has already been mentioned, he didn't have a preseason, so we'd be excited about what he could be with a couple of AFL ones under his belt.
And playing half forward which is apparently the hardest position to play! I don’t know why but I have a good feeling about this guy.

Models his game on Zac Bailey..

Zac Bailey would cost us 2 x first rounders.. and we got this kid for a 3rd rounder?!!.. WTF!!

Genius recruitment.

The AFL Draft coverage is embarrassingly bad.
They legit showed Talor Byrne and had question marks on his goal kicking, whilst showing him snapping snags

At the same time Twomeys talking about him kicking a bag of 5 on the afl.com coverage

Has the profile of a serious winger. Clearly saw something we liked. Might be a hint around our confidence in KPF next year too. Surprised we didn't grab Ludwyke but will be getting around this kid - no pre season and still had elite endurance and speed, could be something.
We'd better be confident in getting Jason's son as a father Son player.

There's apparently a lot of open pool KPPs next year highly rated so doesn't have to go out way but would be nice.
Brady and Will just go another sub 180cm midfield forward and overlook the key forwards. I have 0 confidence in our recruitment team.

Looking at the write ups and highlights he looks like a ripper.

Would have been tempting to go for a tall, but if they're no good, why bother?

Imagine if we had the same thoughts with Brown and Larkey….

The later rounds can be a goldmine for talls. We are proof of that.

He does give us two way run with better athleticism than some of our list stuffers. Does he have an AFL position is tbd. He deserves the benefit of the doubt until we see his development.

It is clear with Whitlock playing FW and Trembath emerging the club sees our talls differently to us, possibly also knowing 2026 draft is deeper in them. Time will tell but anybody taken 48 is going to be a project to some degree.

It will be interesting to see if Ludowyke’s injury might be a more complicated longer-term prognosis than we know e.g. one of those clubs fear could shorten a career. Not sure why he fell otherwise.

Welcome to Nth Hugo, deserves a full pre-season before judgement, but an interesting project to see develop in the VFL squad at least.
Yes welcome aboard, Hugo
I was hoping for a tall like most, but Ludo is NOT a sure thing (how many other teams passed him over ffs) and so the melts on here are just the usual drivel.
We do have too many small forwards, but most are out of contract in 12 months and will be culled (its not like they've all been signed to 5 year deals).

His speed and ball use up the ground may well put him above our current batch (excluding Dova).

That time he recorded last year may indicate that when fully fit he is just about the fastest player in this draft.
