The best thing about the last two tests for me is Weatherald.

I was a bit wtf in the first in Perth. He looks like he was facing hand grenades.

But since then he’s looked really solid. Pity he’s over 30

I'm not convinced he's more than a stopgap to be honest, though I dont know how long the Head experiment will last either. Dont know how that technique is going to stand up to good bowling units bowling consistently on his pads.

First innings in Perth he copped a great ball. In the second innings he looked composed and looked like he belonged.
So really only in his first innings has he not looked settled

He's like a left handed Bancroft with that head position. Except to save time he starts with his head leaning over outside off rather than having to fall over.

You wouldn't think it'd take long for test bowlers to work him out.

Geez his shots look good when he hits em though..

McCullum's a fraud. He can't coach and his bubble ('everyone's against us') approach has alienated the English media and fans.

Stokes gets a lifetime pass because of his past on-field heroics. But the reality is that he has no tactical nous and his body language on the park when things are getting tough is awful.

Alas, all this will have changed by the time of the next Ashes series and we might have to deal with a competitive England side.

Weatherald takes his stance in front of leg/middle stump. The English bowlers realised early on he is a candidate for lbw and pitch the ball up onto his boots with a decent chance of success. Hopefully he can continue to make his technical oddity work long term.

They want similar venues to the Test venues, not club grounds. The WACA was their preferred prep ground but the shield match put paid to that.

According to the cricket et al guys, via Cam Ponsonby, it was a Cafe and the money had to be collected by a bunch coffee drinkers and their small children. Probably one of those joints at Claisbrook. It's a pity it wasn't the pub though, it'dve have been funnier (and he wouldn't have got it all back).

He nis still on a contract. He is still playing out the season. He has been mentioned by the Australian selectors that he is still on the radar.It is all in the media.
