The trainwreck interview on channel 7 with McCullum reinforced to me what a prick & fraud that bloke is.

Drank his own bathwater created his own cult but in reality is all bluff and just spews out shit to distract from a flawed strategy lacking any accountability.

To say they over-prepared is just a PR statement to spin and deflect the pathetic tactics/strategy they have brought here.

Apprantley this is 9th test series he has been involved in against Australia and yet to win one.

Throw in the World Cup final

Baz will always be remembered in this country for being an epic failure

McCullum's a fraud. He can't coach and his bubble ('everyone's against us') approach has alienated the English media and fans.

Stokes gets a lifetime pass because of his past on-field heroics. But the reality is that he has no tactical nous and his body language on the park when things are getting tough is awful.

Alas, all this will have changed by the time of the next Ashes series and we might have to deal with a competitive England side.

My favourite part was when he conceded they should change the way they train and prepare, but then could only give horse racing related examples.

I can't wait to see the footage of them from their next training block, doing figure eights and little jumps.

He was probably about to use golf as an example and in remembering not mention golf, got flustered.

In his defence, its no mean feat to coach a national sporting team with an IQ of 70.

Guess what. Most of you are wee wee's.

Are we on a self congratulations tour?

I also called it.

This was talking about Cam Green batting again, at the end of the day prior to Starc smashing a heap of runs and putting us 100 to 150 runs up.

I hope he isn't required to. I'd like Australia to add another 100 to 150 runs here and then England fall in a big hole and the top three score all the runs chasing it down.

Do Mr Ball and his Kiwi cousin actually believe the tripe they spew!
Do they believe the players were over trained!!!
Con men the pair of them. Mr Ball trying to look like a gangster with his serious face and Woolies sun shdes.

Steve Smith is Jofra Archer's bunny - just ask the Barmy Army and Piers Morgan.
You mean Percy Morgan!!. Really no one calls their boy child Piers.
And remeber that this babble of bowlers was going to terrorise the worst Australian Ashes team since 2010.
Wood done a knee, Archer had his heart broken for opening his mouth.

Was coming here to ask if others thought the current England team are a cult. Clearly from the above posts I'm not the only one. They remind me of the attitude of the Saint Kilda players under Ross Lyon the first time around. When he left they acted like people being deprogrammed from the moonies or some shit.

At least Lyon believed in hard work and process beyond the complete buy in/bubble thing.

McCullum obviously believes they can just magically appear at the ground without having held a bat or bowled in the nets and operated at some mystical higher level as they are not constrained by negative beliefs or some other lunacy.

I mean I kind of get it. I play great gold when I haven't picked up a club for a couple of years and don't think about it too much and I recently did gig with a band that hadn't rehearsed for nearly 2 years (we had a few days to listen to the recordings of the songs but no time to rehearse in the same room) and we were better than when we left off. We had different theories about why including that we were all so in the moment and listening/looking at each other to make sure we didn't stuff up we played with real simpatico.

The thing is we'd drilled and recorded relentlessly for several years before that break.

I can't see how elite athletes can perform without drilling their skills. The best golfers hit hundreds of balls everyday and you can't get test cricket fit without sending down overs and hitting balls.

While Starc was the obvious & worthy man of the match, Carey must've been in the top 3 votes (not sure how they choose it)
He had a ripper game, both with bat & gloves
He's always been a good keeper but his glovework has gone next level. That was as good a keeping performance as I can ever recall from an Aussie. It takes some cojones to come up to 130km/h + bowling, even with a softer pink ball.

What with THAT stumping and standing up to the quicks, Carey must be really messing with their footwork.

Psychologically, its a power move. He's been in their heads since Lords

I really do think that BAZBALL probably works in England playing against second string attacks, however when they come up a better attack than they are used to then everything falls apart. I can only assume that there is a complete lack of upcoming bowlers in England. Their attack certainly looks fifth rate at the moment. Don't know if they have any up and comers in the touring party.

Their entire bowling plan is based on Archer having once given Smith a concussion. It is not all that surprising they are struggling.

Actually a bit like Gilly I thought his glove work, particularly his footwork, was below standard when he first made the team. Like Gilly it's really improved in the test side.
It ends there though as even though Gilly wasn't the best keeper in Australia at the start he was by the end. Whereas all round I still think Carey isn't there yet. Certainly his bravery and athletism standing up to pace couldn't be matched by anyone else, but he's still prone to spilling more than his fair share of sitters and he doesn't cover the leg side well to the spinners.

It works on flat decks easy paced decks. Shock horror though if you play that way you may find people don't offer you flat decks

I actually think the pommys should stick to bazball* as a tactic, but fire Baz and rename it. They will never go anywhere with him in charge pushing it as strategy (and male wellness brand).

*Since most of their best players are sloggers it makes sense to build team with that in mind.
