If only there was some sort of busway nearby, they could shuttle the workers in and out on.I see SVP worried about the traffic during school pickup times. For a group campaigning on environmental issues, being supportive of more people using their cars seems a little inconsistent.

I don't think Wells has too much to worry about.Federal Government might be needing a new Olympics Minister soon

Wasn't even about the Olympics or events at the stadium and aquatics center post-2032, it was about construction of those venues impacting school pickup. There is that.
Also, the Olympics will be conducted mostly during the July school holidays time.
The vast majority of events after the Olympics will be on weekends or Thursday Friday nights for AFL
A lot of cricket will be played over the Christmas school holidays. The BB is usually at night to.
Yes, there will be some events that may clash with the afternoon pickup but not a lot in my opinion.
Just SVP nitpicking again
Yes, you are correct.Wells is (or currently is) the Brisbane 2032 Vice President representing the Fed Govt
In that case they probably have a point.Wasn't even about the Olympics or events at the stadium and aquatics center post-2032, it was about construction of those venues impacting school pickup.

Somebody has a dirt file on her
The site has no global cultural or heritage protection; a handful of locations in it do.SVP & the Paddington Councillor did an event on Saturday about first nations history at Vic Park. Hung some banners from trees amidst their usual activities

Forgot it was happening cause I was watching cricket. Bit strange to have the eyes of the world on the Gabba watching a test match and not do anything in the crowd or outside the Gabba to promote the SVP cause.

Pretending that all 4,000 trees would be lost is a classic misinformation tactic.
I liked the post, but even slightly comparing Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens to VP is a bit strangeAlso misleading deliberately to garner sympathy/support from people outside of Brisbane/in Brisbane not clued in.
Lots of talk about how it’s a culturally and heritage significant site; but ALWAYS neglecting to mention that it’s been a fenced off golf course for the past 100 years - and since becoming a public park in the last couple years it has seen minimal public interest compared with other parklands like Roma street, Brisbane Botanical Gardens… hell even Mt Coot-tha Gardens are usually a lot busier than Vic Park is.
Hopefully it's pre-Xmas and we don't have to wait until the middle of Jan or early Feb for the announcement. The Towards the games podcast suggested that we could see designs for the stadium/ NAC by Christmas

I don’t know exactly how it works but they mentioned they had have over 10,000 site positions mapped so I assume once they get the final word then they will be able to finalise itI don't see how they can call for a design without knowing the true position of the stadium site.
Do you design something working with the existing topography or more likely work on a lot of fill on the site
The LNP have suggested earthworks can start while the design is being completed.
However, it is not like Perth which was mostly flat when early earthworks started
Surely you need the end plan for topography before you can start a design.
They may/should have completed reports of the recent surveys on VP by Christmas or early new year.
Pretty important the Government get this stadium site right and take advise from the experts, and not make a captains call that's politically motivated.
I usually don't listen to podcasts but had a listen to the one you mentioned.I don’t know exactly how it works but they mentioned they had have over 10,000 site positions mapped so I assume once they get the final word then they will be able to finalise it
Just for a bit of reference, the podcast is with Chris jones the editor of the courier mail and luttsy from nova, they are in the know with what is going onI usually don't listen to podcasts but had a listen to the one you mentioned.
I am all for anyone mentioning the games in the media and any pros or cons that may be discussed.
Glad they mentioned a new train station is needed as i have mentioned this in the 100-day review submission and also to Tim Mander and Annika Wells both my local MP's.
The guys finally got Adrian Schrinner on the line, but he really did not add anything concrete. Just exciting times ahead.
My take is they are 2 people in the media that bring listeners information they gather from either GIICA website or other media stories. The 10,000 site positions are a little misleading. For arguments sake you could move something 1/2 meter or much less. Then move it north, south, east, west, and so on till you get 10,000. Just computer modeling from someone as they mentioned.
The two guys i spoke to a few weeks ago at VP were only contracted to do topography in two fairways. That may change of course and they are given another area to do.
Logic tells me that this is the preferred area for the stadium at this stage which could also include the driving range as it is adjacent to one fairway.
I think the timeline on the GIICA site is more realistic, even though no months of the year are mentioned. They are well aware of the time issue so will kick off the next phases of the project as soon as possible.

Brisbane Times: Olympic venue delivery partner announced, as Victoria Park testing wraps up - Cameron AtfieldGIICA has engaged Unite32, a tier one design and construction management consortium, led by Laing O'Rourke and AECOM, as its Delivery Partner to supercharge the delivery of 17 new and upgraded Games venues statewide.
The announcement came as the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority revealed it had almost completed the geotechnical examination of Victoria Park to determine the location of the planned 63,000-seat main Olympic stadium.
GIICA chief executive Simon Crooks said a report from that work would be ready in early January, but that did not mean the authority would immediately decide on the stadium’s location within the 64-hectare park.
“The reason for that is, hopefully within the next two or three weeks ... we’ll have an architect, and I want to make sure the architect is part of that decision,” he said.
But Crooks said there was “nothing scary” from an engineering viewpoint about the geotechnical evidence GIICA had seen so far.
Save Victoria Park has disputed the call over "nothing scary", have claimed they have heard the haunted screams of the undead emitting from several of the geotechnical bore holes.
