Outside of Soldo reckon the other 3 were better. Townsend won a Liston, Castagna was a dangerous player even if he torched chances and McIntosh was an absolute elite runner. McIntosh probably the one he could try match but he was an absolute elite runner, not sure Trezise is the same level of runner.

Kmac ~ 14 + Kms per game Tresize ran 15.3 vs Port. Sonze got up there in speed & distance too. Ross 14.9 kms vs Brizzy.

Just traded in Patrick Gout gout II. He will play

You could look at those 3 players another way.

Towner slower than Trezise.

Jason more poorly skilled and worse decision maker ball in hand.

McIntosh probably less skill and wouldn't be as good a tackler.

I guess each individual player brings their own strengths and weaknesses. What these 3 players above did was nail down spots in flag teams by finding roles in the team that could accommodate their weaknesses while allowing them to display their strengths. It remains to be seen whether James can do the same. But some players around this level will do so.

Soldo was also a gem but that ACL struck him down in his prime and he never really got back to his best

late season 2020, could've been flag #2 for Ivvy. Chol played a shocker for Lynch. Balta & Astbury back up rucked in that finals.

Pre the injury ~ never saw Soldo kick for goal from more than 30m, he returned kicking for goal from outside 50

Is he a winger or a vlas or broad replacement. Log jam of players for that backline spot is probably hurting his development a bit. Hoping he can take the next step as he just feels relatively safe.

I liked his trajectory in 2024, but really stalled in '25. Was much better against Melbourne at half back, he is not a winger on last years form. I would have said no chance, but looks to have had a good summer and his confidence is up, so who knows. Makes Brown and Banks pull their fingers out at the very least.

I don't think he plays round 1.
I thought his game on the wing vs Carlton last year was good.
Hugo & Kmac will play there. sonz off the bench. I don't think Retscko plays.

Gray will stay in as back up ruck if Balta ain't fit.

No Tresize, Cumming, Fawcett/ Trainor is my tip.

, even Sonsie a few weeks back are training the roof off...... then come the season proper bung average as always. I guess with all our injuries to our recent gun draftees they've got to sell hope and write about someone? Reality is we need these gun kids injury free and getting regular gametime together.

At full strength Trezise isn't in our best 23 and his ceiling is a C grade depth player who most likely retires a 2-3 club journey man who was lucky enough to play approx 60? ordinary games for cellar dwelling clubs. When we delist him EOY, clubs like WCE or North with their ex Tigers recruiters would most likely throw him a lifeline. Trezise's training the house down doesn't move the needle in our rebuild one iota. Would much rather see Retschko or Grlj given opportunities instead.
