The time has come here in hell to restart a tradition that has been culturally significant to generations of Australia's who had nothing but free to air television, Sunday night at the movies.

The premise: Each Sunday a poster who wants to be part of this will be selected on a rotational basis to select a movie for us to watch. We have a week to watch the movie if and when we can and discuss it in this thread. Preferably we would select a movie that is available on the free to air streaming services such as SBS on Demand, 7 Plus and so on. As most have Netflix or Prime so this is also an option.

There is no obligation, just an opportunity to perhaps have movies suggested to you you might never watch otherwise and do likewise for others. Also the opportunity to discuss the movie and you opinions on it. Anyone welcome to jump in at any time.

to find out what movie is on what streaming service check out: https://www.justwatch.com/

I'm currently watching Romy and Michelle's high school reunion
My sister just bought that DVD

I think I've seen Clueless at the cinema which I think is a similar era movie.

Not that you asked but just me going down memory lane.

Trying to think of my timeline of cinema movies. I'm not a die hard cinema goer

The Never Ending Story
ET (Drive In)
Dances With Wolves
Last Action Hero
Speed
True Lies
Eraser
Mission Impossible
Mission Impossible II
Terminator 4
The Day The Earth Stood Still
Avatar
Clueless
Goldeneye
Tomorrow Never Dies
The World is Not Enough
Die Another Day
Independence Day
Bad Boys
Twister :(
Matrix
Men In Black
Forest Gump

I think that's about it.

My first recollection of seeing a movie was Popeye with Robin Williams at the Monash drive-ins in like 1981.

You could have told me sooner and I would have chosen something without Jared Leto in it. I could have just done The Prestige.
It's fine pick whatever movie you want

I forgot long kiss goodnight was the movie of the week and just put it on randomly :tearsofjoy:

Yeah, I was just joking

I looked up the christmas movies before Crim mentioned and had planned to watch with a few others as this one is on SBS.

omit are you about, it’ll be your selection for the next movie soon?

If not we can jump to DERO and come back around to you.

Turns out I’m a little disturbed. Mrs Crim has only watched this film like twice but somehow remembers every scene in every line to long kiss good night.

I was genuinely impressed as I’ve not seen anything like this since me with any action movie with Schwarzenegger or Stallone. Or revenge of the nerds and Ace Ventura but let’s set that aside.

I must say the movie won’t win any Academy Awards but it really quantifies a quintessential 80s/90s action movie.

Want me to pick a film Crimson Azure ?

I have a couple in mind.
Yeah mate, go for it. No one seems to be too interested in discussing the long kiss good night.

And we are probably ready for a new movie.

It is very much a 90s action movie from the guy who made die hard 2 and cliffhanger

I’d like to recommend Souleymayne’s Story but you’d need to pay to watch it. One of the best films I’ve seen in a while (in my opinion of course).

I’m going to suggest a movie that I hadn’t seen before that my GF put on that was better than I thought it would be. The movie is Prisoners.
