MCG game 2026

Yeah Thursday night US makes more sense.
Even from an Australian point of view, it is a lot easier to get the Friday off and have the long weekend than trying to get both Thursday and Friday off.

You could make the rams and the 49ers following game be a Sunday night and a Monday night game for both of them or even have a Monday night double header for the rams and the 49ers for the following week.

It is a better option all around than having them play on a Wednesday night American time .

Exact same reason I'm won't be going even if my 49ers are playing.
The view of the game will be so :poo: on that massive oval. So not worth the money plus an early start game 🤮
Ground level yeah, level 2-4 will be fine

I've heard that too which is a stupid time for local fans, right in the middle of work/school day

Week 4 which is the weekend after the GF makes much more sense but common sense won't be used

Week 3 both teams bye

Week 4 Saturday arvo game in Melbourne (prime time on West Coast)

Week 5 Both teams play Monday night double header
NFL cant play on a friday or Saturday in america from the 2nd week of September till the 2nd week of December [Week 1 next season already falls on the 2nd week]. TNF Week 1 is the only real time it will work unless it is played Nov/Dec.

The NFL should have both teams play Thursday/Friday preseason games. Preseason 3 on a Thursday with starters sent to Australia before the game and do cuts Friday/Saturday and send the rest out on Sunday with any roster changes done early. which isnt ideal but some players will land in Australia and might get cut and placed on the PS.

So that way everyone should be here by Monday night and get a few days before a Friday morning game.

There was no real good way to do this once the Rams were given the game 12 months ago. If it was east coast teams you could of looked at a later season game played on a Sunday night and it would of been a couple of hours earlier then the London games and have it kick off in Melbourne on a Sunday night at 8/9 so it would be 5/6AM if its October or 4/5am November.

I knew they weren't allowed to compete with college, didn't know Fridays were also out

Can still use week 4 though because moving it to Friday arvo isn't the worst as that weekend is in school holidays, so easier that week 1 for people to go

Fridays is to protect high school football. the same as Saturdays is to protect College.

There is a loophole if they went exclusively streaming, but that would piss off the government who can kick them off TV and take away tax free status of the league. but would also piss off fans because it wouldnt be allowed on TV in local markets of the teams playing so not worth the hassle.

Lol wasn't this supposed to be Rams Eagles? Or was that never confirmed
People put 2 + 2 and came up with 5. Because the Eagles also have Australia as a market while ignoring that the Rams were already designated the home team. While they play eachother next season its a Eagles home game and no chance the Eagles gave up a home game to be the designated "road" team on the other side of the world.

Rams are selling presale packages for 500 USD which gives you exclusive access to tickets. Would be good if they said what's included in the packages and how much in total it costs. Says the 500 will be deducted off the final sale.

Sounds like a rort.

Have they said when tickets will go on sale?
UK games tickets go on sale May/June.

date/time wont be announced till around the draft when they do the schedule starting with drip feeding the international games and a few others

Worst news ever. Melbourne AFL Grand Final is insufferable for all the one day a year fans who get to go. This will be new level.
It's pretty much all big events. Everyone and anyone who has ever watched a halftime Super Bowl show will be after tickets. They'd have no trouble selling this out twice i reckon.

I've booked flights anyway so will just have to wait for ticket sales....

If they are crazy priced though I'll just soak up the atmosphere in town

American fans seem to be Hella pissed at all the international games though particularly the one in Australia, whinging more than Poms this summer over DRS
