It could be that derkson’s about 205 and reidy about 7 foot 3.Hey agro he's not pushing 202cm![]()
Yep. We can hide behind “it’s only a practice match” all we like.Just want to point out that while winning this game doesn't matter, it does matter that we got practice the game scenario and converted a winning position.
It matters that the players weren't just happy with a good third quarter and eased up.
We can if we don't select them. Lets see if we continue to select them when there are alternatives. (injuries excluded).“We need to move past players like x, y , z”
Pretty sure we would if we could.

Yeah but tbh he is not an Afl footballerOne thing that’s gone largely unnoticed by others is how good it is to have someone like Liam Reidy genuinely flying the flag for our younger players, just as he did in the last quarter.
In the past, you’d see Curnow or Harry respond with a bit of nervous laughter during a playful shove, but Reidy brings a different edge. Loved it.
Last year we were 33 points up on GWS at quarter time, 25 at the half, 39 at 3/4 and 58 by the end - then lost to the Tigers a couple of weeks later.Just want to point out that while winning this game doesn't matter, it does matter that we got practice the game scenario and converted a winning position.

Tell you what, we may take the p1$$ that’s not relevant, and it’s not in the real context of the year, but what these wins against ‘quality’ opposition do above the shoulders for our players, and all the confirmations of their work and game plan / system is invaluable.
Just need to believe and take the bloody games on!!

There were plenty of positives but I am not getting carried away
I'm a Cooper Lord fan but last night was not a good game by him.You think Lord > Cerra already?
Cerra does struggle with injuries, but bar 2024 he's always been a lock for top 5 in the BnF.
Cerra in 2023 was an elite player and had a long stretch where he was our best player. I hope Lord reaches that sort of ceiling, but it's ridiculous to make that claim already.
I actually regret the Cerra/Hewett/Kennedy mess, and think in hindsight going to the draft (instead of trading for Cerra) or trading for another need would have been better than bringing in so many mids lacking express pace...when we could have just used Kennedy.
But at least up until now, Cerra >>>> Lord.
Yes. Lord, looks up/downfield & takes the right option most times. You think Lord > Cerra already?

I am not even disagreeing with you that Cerra hasn't lived up to expectations.Yes. Lord, looks up/downfield & takes the right option most times.
He is considerably better by foot, and he has a great work ethic (not that Cerra doesn't work hard).
I'm not disputing Cerra of old had good form, but it's now past him, and his body is only getting worse.
Saying Cerra was elite (I don't believe but will look at the pre-Carlton stats) and to say that he was our best player isn't really saying much when you consider our options back then. Sure, Cerra's issues likely come from having no confidence in his body, but having genuine footballers just shows how much skill we've been missing until now.
I think the point is - if we don't put Lord ahead of him now we will be having the same discussion in a year. Lord needs to play to get better - Cerra has shown us his ceiling.I am not even disagreeing with you that Cerra hasn't lived up to expectations.
He's still comfortably ahead of Lord though. Might be different by this time next year, but to make the claim now is ridiculous.
Well, the next few weeks while Cerra is out with a Hamstring will tell.I am not even disagreeing with you that Cerra hasn't lived up to expectations.

I’d ramp up his game time against the cats.PS. Talor Byrne - Loved what he brought. Genuine small who knows how to play like a genuine small, and can finish.
Loved. it. More Please.
I thought we could squeeze em both in due to Motlop on the long term injury list?if we continue to have only 1 SSP spot open then based only on tonight's game I would take Wade over Lij.
No current season stats available
No, not at present. What’s people’s impressions on Moir?
Best 23?
I think Pitto is a good tap-to-advantage Ruck but apart from his 60m bomb last year, that's where it ends for him.Looking at last nights game. What I suspected is true. We finally have a strong functioning forward line. Pittonet and Reidy in the team together does not work. Neither can play forward at all. But O'Keeffe can so we can look forward to that.
McKay, O'Keeffe, Hayward, Kemp, Ainsworth, Moir and Byrne will be the bones of what is a very well structured, talented and potent forward line. Everything I have been saying about it and that group, we got to see most of it in the flesh and we looked the most dangerous we have in decades. Yes it was practice but it was still the look I got.
I thought the midfield looked ok. Ruck to me looked the weakest spot on the ground. The new ruck rules favours those long armed tall rucks who can jump and that is neither of our rucks. Finding someone more dominant in the ruck has to be number one for us at the end of the season. A dominant ruck means we can defend a lot easier at the stoppage, we can attack more and in a game like this where we worked hard to come from behind to win, we will actually win comfortable. I thought it was the ruck work and a few gun mids that fed off it that made Brisbane competitive, I felt if they didn't have that then we win this easily.
I thought Walsh and Smith makes us a different kettle of fish. I think our midfield will be ok. I think we will be looking forward to Walker though, the way the game is, having dynamic pace in there is going to be a big deal.
Our backline looked frail. It wasn't the talls either. I thought they were ok. It was the ground level play where I felt we were physically weak at the contest and lacked greatly in physicality. We got walked through a lot. Yes it's a practice match and there are some players who bring a hard body to the contest missing such as Newman and Cowan but they walked through space which should have been covered and they walked through our tackles in defence.
I think we will be alright when we are out there and it's our full squad. There's enough talent there to play finals and we should.
I thought he was pretty good last night. One of our better players. Showed a bit more outside of the ruck contest than I've seen from him in the past.I think Pitto is a good tap-to-advantage Ruck but apart from his 60m bomb last year, that's where it ends for him.
Reidy looked good in a contest at times but as much as i like his aggression I think he needs a lot more discipline.
Some poor free kicks against him.
With the calibre of people we have in media and tv these days and the increasing usage of AI to do stuff we're close to hitting Idiocracy as a society and that'll be the point of no return.Maths was bad all night. In the second qtr they had a discussion about Harry Goal Kicking. Pointed out he was 22.10 last year & how that’s not good enough and you want your key forward to go at least 50% then they said 70% would be ideal. 22.10 is 68.7%
Meanwhile last year;
Charlie Cameron 49.2%
Oscar Allen 70.5%
Jeremy Cameron 68.1%
Did he end up saying that gee we're suprised he fell at our pick (as we had him ranked top 2...).Gee Nick Austin played a cool poker hand on the Talor Byrne selection. Was obviously keen but rather than bite traded in a 2026 2nd rounder rather than jump early. Then traded in a 2026 3rd rounder rather than jump early and then used pick 45. If he becomes the footballer that we hope that he might be (and that he showed glimpses of last night) that will be terrific recruiting.

Remember folks just because Brawndo has electrolytes it's not good for plants (pass that one on for future generations).
