That was a poor choice of words for sure. We can't all be gifted athletes.
You’re taking it out of context. He’s right. If you put your hand up and accept a huge contract, that comes with external expectations.

If you don’t like that, find a normal job where the same isn’t true.

Maybe he should put the smart ass crap aside for a few weeks. talk to facts and win a few games.

If RTB gets us a flag, he can call me mediocre until the cows come home.

I agree, though--less smart ass crap and talk the facts. My dad is getting sick of his smart ass comments and brushing aside the obvious issues we are having.

No I watched the press conference, he seemed to infer that if you work as a journalist or other jobs you're embracing a life of mediocrity. I'm sure he didn't mean it that way and I don't really give a stuff, the questioning of him is very baseline and dumb and centred around this idea that we have to win now. Ultimately every team is trying to win I don't see why we have to win more or less than anyone else.

He doesn’t help himself. This looks really average.

I listened to it, nothing to see, the question was are Nas and TDK under more pressure because they took the money? Ross said we support them, but ultimately it's on the players to carry that burden, if they didn't lean into that challenge, they should hop on the other side of the fence. Yes he's dismissive of the media as most of us are, stupid questions and it's always amusing how they simper when they are in front of him, but become barking dogs the second his back is turned.

Just go look at the headlines generated from that presser.

Listen to the 1st question, gave a detailed response and expanded on it, no smart assery involved. next questions all revolve around the same thing, you've picked out 1 thing when the entirety of the presser was cordial, and as you wanted, Ross expressed opinions and gave answers.

Ross has to live in a different space than the rest of us. Should he give detailed responses when that may open up NAS or TDK to greater scrutiny? why didnt they ask why we are so poor in the front 1/2? or why did we allow such an open game?, SOOOOOOO many legitimate questions they could ask and he's asked numerous times about specific players and money.

Cos the majority of fans dont care about the minutae of the game plan and the journos want a sexy soundbite for the News

I saw it written and then listened/watched it twice.

It’s average.

It just doesn’t need to be said in that context and I’d imagine he wishes he could have those 10 seconds back.

I don't think he'd give it a second thought

I bet he's already forgotten about those 20 seconds and working at his job again.
He was definitely calling the journos mediocre and he's not wrong.
We should all know by now that he doesn't care about the media or upsetting their egos.

If they dont want to be called mediocre, they can come up with better questions.

Its important to take training reports with a grain of salt guys. There are plenty of times in the past where I've gone the early crow as someone went to the treatment room and they ended up playing and playing well.

As for reports today, Clark was rehabbing with King and LOC and certainly wasn't in full training. There was a sense of familiarity with Max working on his knee, Clark coming back from a soft tissue and LOC not able to train due to a head knock.

Anyway....

King was moving better than I would've expected, who knows where he is at though.

Hall went into the 'treatment room' then did some work on his own with a trainer, if there's an issue - its more than a cold unless he went in there to get a tissue for his runny nose. Again, grain of salt stuff guys.

Pou looked proppy, yes he got through training with a fluro and moved ok once he got going, but I don't see a point in risking him - give him two weeks off with the bye.

Hammer looked hampered, Howard trained well.

Banfield didn't really bash the door down today. Conversely, Stocker didn't put a foot wrong.

It was actually a really poor session for plenty. Think that Carlton preseason video only it was us. Coaches frustrated on more than one occasion. I've seen that before and they've blitzed it on the weekend so don't read much into it.

mediocrity, he's spent his life dedicated to chasing around a leather bladder, normally a big fan of the boss but that's a poor effort, head out of your ass big fella u aint special
Don’t take it personally, he’s not talking about you. Or anyone who isn’t a footballer.

His point is that at that level of AFL football, you’re not there to be mediocre. Especially not when you’re signing million dollar contracts.

Win the first 2 games and nobody takes issue with his words lol

Part of his job is to address the media and represent the club. Nothing put to him was below the belt but he effectively called all media - mediocre.

Wasn’t long ago his bills were getting paid asking the same questions.

It’s absolutely average and it reeks of a bloke under the pump as opposed to cool calm and collected.

It does nothing positive for us. When he first came back, he played the media like a fiddle with the experience of senior coaching and significant media work. This is crap.

sure but he phrased it like regular folk are mediocre or don't pursue greatness. I'm not thinking of myself, but the people who keep it all running, nurses, garbage collectors, the single mum gettin off work early to pick up the kids and drop em off at training etc, not everyone can nor needs to be a star
