This probably isn't new thread worthy, but I popped down to training on Monday as I had a job interview out that way just after so, only made logical sense.

Here's my observations on each and every player on the Crows list:

ADELAIDE

Armstrong, Tony
Didn't train

Bassett, Nathan
Trained with the boys, looked fit and well.

Biglands, Rhett
Trained with the boys, looking a mean machine. Very fit.

Bock, Nathan
Didn't really notice him that much.

Burton, Brett
Likewise. Injury free though.

Campbell, Bryce
Looking very fit, running smooth, so unless something happens, a big PS is on the cards which should = gametime in 08.

Cook, Myke
Didn't train.

Dangerfield, Patrick
See above.

Doughty, Michael
Isn't worth the ink. Was on the bike though.

Douglas, Richard
Has put on a bit more weight, really looks to be commanding the troops out there - strong leadership.

Edwards, Tyson
Same old.

Gallman, Greg
Forgot to take a look.

Gill, Nick
Didn't see him anywhere. I think he was on the bikes though. Someone went down with ice on the ankle and I'm about 80% sure it was Gilly.

Goodwin, Simon
Same old.

Griffin, Jonathon
Still skinny as a rake, but certainly was looking good out there.

Hentschel, Trent
On the bike.

Jacky, Jarrhan
Didn't train, however, I would just like to say, that he will play in 08. You don't need to be the perfect weight to play a forward pocket crumbing role.

Jericho, Luke
Not worth the ink.

Johncock, Graham
Overweight.

Kite, Aaron
Didn't train.

Knights, Chris
Looking a mean character. Hopefully he can take his fitness to the next level.

Mackay, David
Still fairly skinny, definitely put on weight though, but **** he is a great kick.

Maric, Ivan
Come back in great shape.

Massie, Kris
Not sure he actually trained, know he went on that thing to Africa.

McGregor, Ken
Seems to be moving a bit more freely, which is promising.

McLeod, Andrew
In Melbourne on the day, but you know what your gonna get.

Moran, Brad
Running laps with one of the trainers (because of injury I think).

Otten, Andy
DT.

Porplyzia, Jason
If he gets fit enough, he'll be a star.

Reilly, Brent
Seems to have assumed some leadership. Commanding the troops.

Rutten, Ben
Seems to be a bit quiet for my liking as a captain.

Sellar, James
On the bikes. I believe hes had his tonsils out, but he was on the bike for a good 45-hr with Charlie Walsh, and seemed to be working bloody hard. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Shirley, Robert
He seems to have the respect of his mates out there. A lot more respect than BF gives him anyway.

Stevens, Scott
Man he looks like a skinny teenager. lol.

Symes, Brad
Didn't notice.

Thompson, Scott
Gun. Hopefully he can 'light it up' in 2008.

Tippett, Kurt
Didn't notice. May have been on the bike.

van Berlo, Nathan
Can't even remember lol.

Vince, Bernie
Perfect body shape. Hopefully he's fit enough, but he has a beautiful leg.

Walker, Taylor
Definitely needs to work on fitness. I hope no one expects huge things from him next year. He slouched a bit because of exhaustion, but he was definitely working hard. He looks a touch slow for my liking. But, for a guy his height, has an absolutely wonderful kick on him.

Legendary stuff CC. :thumbsu: :)

Biglands, Rhett
Trained with the boys, looking a mean machine. Very fit.
Great, looks as though mediocre Rhett will be back. I’d rather go for a ruck combo of Maric/Griffin than waste time on Biglands.

Campbell, Bryce
Looking very fit, running smooth, so unless something happens, a big PS is on the cards which should = gametime in 08.
Excellent. You get the feeling many have written him off but he’ll be around the mark.

Doughty, Michael
Isn't worth the ink. Was on the bike though.
I’m surprised you even included him. :p

Douglas, Richard
Has put on a bit more weight, really looks to be commanding the troops out there - strong leadership.
He’s entering his 3rd year now so you would expect him to be near his ideal weight.

Gill, Nick
Didn't see him anywhere. I think he was on the bikes though. Someone went down with ice on the ankle and I'm about 80% sure it was Gilly.
That would be right.

Griffin, Jonathon
Still skinny as a rake, but certainly was looking good out there.
Still early, but I think he has an inability to put on weight. Not ideal for a ruckman.

Jacky, Jarrhan
Didn't train, however, I would just like to say, that he will play in 08. You don't need to be the perfect weight to play a forward pocket crumbing role.
I agree, small forwards don’t need to be muscle men.

Jericho, Luke
Not worth the ink.
To add to that, not even worth a spot on the list.

Johncock, Graham
Overweight.
Typical. No midfield for him.

Mackay, David
Still fairly skinny, definitely put on weight though, but **** he is a great kick.
Gun, can’t wait to see him out there.

Shirley, Robert
He seems to have the respect of his mates out there. A lot more respect than BF gives him anyway.
What are you talking about? Everyone loves him!

Thanks for that Campbell's Chunky. :thumbsu:

I was there at the start for a while but had to leave early.
  • Massie was there. He was doing some handball drills then laps with Bocky, Sellar and Trent.
  • Gill was hard to spot, but he was with the main group, he's lost the curls
  • Kurt Tippett was also with the main group for the time I was there.

Took some photos and will sort them out at some stage but for the moment here's Taylor:

Great work CC :thumbsu::thumbsu:

A lot of people have written off Biggie but he will lead our rucks in 2008 and he will do a reasonable job of it. He's a guy who can sneak forward and nick a goal when needed and is a great deal more athletic than Hudson. Thats not to say he's a better genuine ruckman, he's just got more flexibility.

Disappointing but predictable news on Johncock. Weve seen how good he can be and you just know that he isnt as fit as he could be. If only.......

Sounds like a few of the young guys are stepping up on the track which is real good to see. Tex is obviously going to find it hard during his first PS but hopefully he puts in the hard yards over the Xmas break. Bit different to training up in Broken Hill where youve gotta let the old B Graders catch up ;)

Thanks CC.

Really is disappointing to hear Johncock is overweight. I realise he has actually performed for us but surely the club must be annoyed with his lack of work ethic, or what ever it is that's preventing him from getting himself fit enough. Everybody wants him to be able to move into the midfield, surely the club would be all over him to get his fitness up. People are saying questioning Sellar and his desire, while Johncock does perform at the highest level, surely some questions must be asked about how much he wants it?

Still a while between now and the next season so with a bit of luck everyone will be fit and firing come the NAB Cup. Btw when you think about it there are many potential improvers in 2008 - Knights, Douglas, Maric, Griffin, Vince, Porplyzia....I still think we can make the finals.

Id just like to say you guys who go to the trainings and give us reports are champions and the hardest of hard supporters!:thumbsu:

I concur. Guys, thanks for all your efforts. We really appreciate it, especially us here overseas.

I'm really keen to here about Sellar's progress throughout this pre-season so any updates would be appreciated. Sounds like he needs to get a bit of ticker. Didn't he have his tonsils out weeks ago? Although I would love for him to succeed as it sounds like he could be anything!

Would also love to hear about Walker and his pace. Hopefully we don't have another McGregor on our hands.

awesome photos.

Douglas has put on stacks of weight.
Maric is huge.

Tippett is just enormous, can't wait to see him.

Stiffy is fat, but it doesn't matter he's used to being a bit chubby at this time of the year.

Richie and DMac look to have put on a fair bit which is good. Keeping in mind that both are never going to be overly bulky.

A positive for me is that Sellar looks in pretty good shape there. Hopefully he can have a massive PS.

And I think we know who ate all the pies in the off-season.
