Had a look at EM vs Chelsea Heights.
EM very impressive with their run and carry on top of the ground in the ideal conditions.
New recruits all contributed well. Don’t look like they’ll be as reliant on Morrisby this year.
EM should be thereabouts at the pointy end of the season with Highett...
This was my thoughts too that the bottom 6 player depth in the VAFA top sides might make the difference between them and most of the other top suburban sides (Heidelberg supporters could probably justifiably disagree)
Where do we see the standard of VAFA against the other suburban comps nowadays?
How would OB go against the Heidelberg team that has powered through the Northern League the last 4 years?
I think the 2018 SKOB and 2023 Collegians outfits would have beaten any other club teams in those years but...
Maybe Xavs should have played their reserves team….i heard they’re really good.
FWIW Collegians beat Scotch twice this season but who’s counting.
G.Natt becoming a master coach.
3 rounds to go and sat 3 games and percentage outside finals. No Valentine or Sellars up front.
Nothing to lose next...
I read the original post from XAFL as inferring that Xavs had basically played their ressies when the 2 teams met -given Fisher and Stavrou were out - but yes all teams are injury affected on any given day and no excuses should be used to that effect
But a team with a percentage over 95 in A grade wouldn’t lose to Xav ressies so it’s a moot point.
Agree OB will win their first flag.
Best overall team I saw this season over the 2 legs (best team performance was Xavs the first time around against Collegians)
Aah so no mention/excuses of the Collegians injury crisis by their coach or players all season - the first time they played Xavs they had 9 or 10 out and no midfield - but now the narrative of they were lucky that other teams were rolling out their “reserves” against them.
Lions debuted 3 as...
Jack Hill the blind miner could see that SKOB’s round 18 team selection screwed Collegians over. The final ladder was decided on Friday afternoon.
But yes it was Collegians fault they allowed themselves to be put in that situation. If you don’t want a rival to screw you over then win more...
Harry Hill went off with a calf during the 3rd quarter the week before. Genuine injury concern.
Otherwise Brighton seemed to play pretty much a full strength team
Which made it all the stranger that the 13 SKOB rested players have 3 weeks between games.
Rolled over on the momentum of a 7 game winning streak as well. Time will tell
