Norm Smith Medallist
Will be playing this week or next in the ressies. Pretty much good to go now, just don't want to risk it. Excited to see him get a start, we could really use a player like him right now

I haven't been fortunate enough to hear him play, but it really sounds like he is the player that allows us to release Banfield up the ground. I feel like he was a bit of a goal kicker at NEAFL level, is this true or did I make it up in my head? We could use a crumbing forward with a good goal sence, another Beams to put in the forward line basically.

He has been a midfielder who is very capable up forward. He is definately a goal kicker and has some big bags to his name. He is a capable crumber but also pretty good on the lead for someone his size and he can sneak into the forward 50 from the midfield and kick them. He is a better forward than Beams.
@brisbanelions Zorko in for first game in reserves. First time in lions colors. All the best Tink. Looking forward to seeing him play.
Even when cleared to resume full training in March Lions medical staff had decided not to rush him and ordered a full five-week training preparation before letting him loose in a match situation. But yesterday the goal-kicking midfielder did enough for Clarke to sing his praises in lavish fashion. “He clearly needed to play and it was the second half before he started to get some touch in the trying conditions but he was a very good contributor,” said the coach.
A future AFL player? “Very much so,” said Clarke.
“Put it this way – I don’t expect to have him for too long. It’d be unreasonable to expect him to go out and straight away dominate at AFL level but I certainly think he can be a contributor.”

One such highlight which will surely buoy fans came when 2012 No.12 draft pick Sam Docherty combined brilliantly with Dayne Zorko to ignite an attacking thrust.
Docherty spun on a dime, evaded two tackles, turned and speared a pass to Zorko who dived full-length and slid to complete the mark just outside the 50.
Docherty was eased back into the action but still accumulated 19 touches, whilst Zorko was ‘absolutely stoked’ to register 32 possessions and 14 tackles.
I wonder if it's best to give him full games in the reserves or to play him as a sub in the seniors for a couple of weeks?

Looks like he might have put a bit of weight back on from the photos of him in Jan/Feb.
The club already knows he can play at that level. It is all about gaining match fitness for a few more weeks and then he will be into the seniors! I really hope this kid makes it and to be honest I see no reason why he won't32 touches, 2 goals, 14 tackles.
Handy first game back.![]()

Slight chance as the Sub. I would say the GWS game the week after would be more likely however. Even the week after. Needs to gain match fitness!Odds on a Zorko debut against the Pies??
Everything was well above average, lionshine.
“Dayne had a terrific comeback game,” Clarke said.
“We know that he’s an elite State League level player, so there were no surprises that he was able to play well. However, the way he played still exceeded our expectations.”
“We just have to manage him over the next week or two. Then I expect he will come into the picture for senior selection.”
