One thing that scares the hell out of me about this match-up - Sean McVay with a week off
Goff doesn't scare me anywhere near as much as Mahomes. Donald (give him the JJ Watt treatment) and Gurley on the other hand...

Also:
Throw a pick in the end zone.
Throw a pick in the 4th quarter.
No KC turnovers.
Force a fumble, recover it then give away a holding penalty.
Win?? :drunk:

That's it. It was very much like the road losses against Fins and Steelers; lots of quality sprinkled with just enough sloppiness to let the other team stay in it. If you gave me that sort of list before the game (and you could add a few other poor plays too), I'd say KC win by 14+

Then again, if you told me you'd hold KC at Arrowhead to 0 points to half time, I'd say that's good enough to win the game right there.

What an amazing game .... I still can't believe it - there's a dozen things from that game I can't believe, from Edelman of all people nearly costing us the game not once but twice, then turn around and make clutch play after clutch play, Mahomes missing an open Williams (I think it was), to some of the most inconsistent DPI's/DHolding calls you're going to see, stunt plays that actually pinned Mahomes down ... on that, when it happened once early I just figured we got lucky, but it was there much of the game and the pressure created was massive, game changing actually because it was that which allowed the O to have those sloppy plays and get away with it - just didn't think our DL/LB lineup could contain as well as they did, but they did, they were fantastic.

What a a win!!

And here's something for you all. I was watching the game delayed by a couple of hours, off a recording. Problem is, because of al the massivley long reviews etc. plus the game going to OT, my recording stopped first play into OT.

Watching it with my son, we figured we had done the roller-coaster ride for this long we'd hold off googling the result and try to download it without knowing. Nearly 2 hours later, I get to watch the last 5 mins of OT, still not knowing how it ended ... as if the game itself didn't take years off my heart, turning that last few minutes to 2 hours ... suffice to say I was emotionally exhausted by the end of the day. :coldsweat:

Agree on Mahomes>Goff but McVay picking the eyes out of the defence at the LOS will be hard to counter - fascinating to see what BB and Flores come up with to counteract this.

Gurley is the one, especially on the back of how badly KC exposed our LBs in HB coverage in the second half

Football is a simple game, win at the LOS and you're almost there. Pats need to stonewall the run and force the game into Goff's hands. With that done, pressure the heck out of him and watch him collapse.

Problem is, up until the last few weeks, stonewalling the run is exactly what the Pats have not been able to do. The secondary has basically done it's job most of the year, but the OL/LBs had a nasty habit of being gashed by offences with much worse ground games than the Rams. I can easily see a chomping at the bit Gurley smashing us to bits oppening up play actions etc. which can help Goff get into the game.

Certainly a different challenge compared to KC. Taking Hill out of the game can be done by denying him the ball, not easy, but Pats managed it. Gurley and CJ, on the other hand, can be handed the ball any time and that setup knows how to make yards on the ground.

I think we will show a heavy front and make Goff pass the ball, backing our secondary to win match-ups in man-to-man situations. The problem is the Rams receivers are all quite quick and while our secondary is good I think we might have trouble keeping Cooks/Woods in check

One thing which is truly great is that other than Wynn and Rowe, the Pats have a full slate of health. Compare that to this time last year when Edelman, Hightower, Bennett, Cannon and Mitchell were all out. Then add in Gronk's concussion and Brady's hand. Also include the Butler situation and Cooks being laid out in the first quarter.

Yeah this run isn't possible without a healthy list. Completely forgot Jeremy Hill existed until I looked at our injuries this year!

I was watching a live stream at work which cut out right as KC were lining up for the tying FG. I panicked and luckily found one on my phone I could stream in 4G and managed to get it running right as Slater called HEADS
