Lets not build him up like rfc used to do with every cub
I reckon he will show glimpses but needs to work on his tank

Agree that we should get games in to them, but if Martin or Cotchin went down, like any team we’d be screwed regardlessI think Jack Ross is a good chance to play in front of RC-D, he has the size and has power to go with it.
From what i can gather RC-D has consistency issues where as Ross has shown he can consistently get the ball.
Im hoping a worst case scenario is they play 22 games between them.
If they are good enough they will play, first yr players or not they both have the size rather than height to go straight away.
If anyone thinks we don't need a big inside mid in the team i think they are kidding themselves, it is definately a team weakness as far as depth goes. We are in a position to play these kids with senior quality around them rather than just waiting for an injury to two or three senior players and they are SUDDENLY in the deepend .
I cant think of too many highly touted big mids who did not get plenty of games in their first season.
In fact most i can think of got plenty of games barring injury. They get games because they have the size and are ready for the rigours of AFL.
My biggest concern is if say we do lose Cotchin and Martin late in the yr and we havent put games into the young mids we go into finals with kids with no experience at all.
We need to find a balanced approach to this and ensuere the kids are getting enough expsure just in case they do have to come in without support.Other clubs manage to do this and i cant see why we cant as well. Our second 22 would have the least amount of games to their names in the league.
Had good skills though, absolute gun small forward. Would slot right in to our 2019 side.
An oldie but a goodie, PA.All the talk was he was going to Glenferrie though and they would just move Hudson out to CHF.........
Higgins first yr was good but i reckon he was gifted games in the first half of the yr. He shows he has plenty of tools but unlike just about everyone else i think he has an awful long way to go to be considered an elite midVlas - yep. He was supposed to be that inside monster. Not too good at that. But in the backline what a star!!! Sometimes close to Rance level.
Corey was always to me that skilled kids with a good footy brain, but no toughness and athleticism. He performed above VFL, but didn't take his chances at AFL level.
I would not be shocked if he does well at GC. If he can play in the guts regularly. It's just when the penny drops for him to be a quality player. But he's not that rounded player we use in our team. And he was competing against Cotch and Dusty to get game time here. He's not in that class to break in. Higgins came here and stepped right in. Shows the difference between having AFL talent, but insufficient mental aptitude (hope you get what I mean) and having a great footy brain and the right attitude. I reckon Higgins put the nail in Ellis' coffin.

His first sreason was better than a pass but he has to continue to improve.

Do you think !!
Was there ever a player that was considered an elite mid after his 1st year ?
Dont think Higgins could have done anymore in his 1st year than he did and in regards to being gifted games, Think just about every one of our stars were gifted games in their 1st year as i cant remember Cotchin,Riewoldt,Martin playint too many vfl games and earning their spots via the VFL
I remember a lot were complaining during Riolis first season as well that he was gifted games as well
Funny how the players that seem to be “gifted” games early turn out to be jets
Almost as if the coach’s know what they are doing

Recovery from surgery. Will miss some games st start of yearWhere’s graham going?
Will he? Doing everything but tackling at the moment, and not far from doing that I understand.Recovery from surgery. Will miss some games st start of year
Really didn’t know thatRecovery from surgery. Will miss some games st start of year
Yes and I was one of them too...
But Rioli has come good! Quality player just knocking on A grade's door...
Nowhere near A grade performances though. Rioli is another who displays A grade traits but the output is way down to be considered an A grader.
Yes its early days and the expectations are he will trend upwards.
His body of work to date has yielded on average
11.3 disposals
3.6 c/p
0.93 goals
3.4 tackles
2.5 i/f
0.4 cl
Thats hardly knocking on A grade's door. Instead it suggests he still has a long way to go in several areas.

Perfect!
This is how stats skew a players' benefit to the teams game plan. Rioli is one of, if not the best pressure forward in the comp., A grade for his position and very early days.
Have you not seen the panic with defenders when he's around?
Don't just use stats, use your eyes!
