I’ve been attending the last couple of weeks of training and there is definitely more comradery around the track than last year. You can thank Peter Bell for that. It’s no hidden secret the distance between Fyfe and the group and I think Belly has definitely worked on that with his leadership experience. Brisbane Lions players set themselves a target of making the finals this year after only winning 5 in 2018. Surely Freo, a club that has added some ready made players to the list and with consecutive 8 win seasons should be talking up finals. Not only for their belief, but for the supporters as well.
Disagree regarding talking up finals. I really don't see the point, especially when we have recruited 4 best 22 players who are yet to play a game. The big ticket items for me are still about development;
  • settle a forward line
  • continue the transformation of our midfield with Brayshaw, Cerra and Banfield taking on major roles
  • get the defence working as a cohesive unit when under pressure and a weapon when in control of the ball
  • understand and implement the game plan
Get to midway through the year and take a look at what opportunities exist for making it to the finals.

Is this division with Fyfe actually real?

I often see him with heaps of the playing group having beers etc.

It was definitely evident at the Doig medal I attended a couple of years ago. Some former players have expressed this view on him as well. He definitely seems more relaxed and does spend a bit more time with his teammates. It sounds like he tried to carry the club on his own shoulders for a while. Belly has definitely been a huge help.

No point talking up finals chances. Actions speak louder than words.

As a supporter firstly I want to see the team have a crack.

Secondly I want to see a game plan

Thirdly I want to see how they react when the game plan ain’t working.

Last year they had a crack (at times) , but others items weren’t evident.

I’m just hoping for a red hot crack on the ball carrier, like the manic defender of olde, and then fast break through defence to attack. Let the forwards have a chance!.

Oh yeh and someone in the attacking 50 as a target at all times, so we aren’t going side ways when we should be attacking!

Nathan Fyfe is an odd character, it takes a lot to matter to him but once you do you really do.

It drives his success because the high standards he places on those around him he also puts on himself.

I think you'd get on better with this personality type if you don't have overlapping competitive interests. You both kick butt in what you do but neither floats in the other's professional circles so you carry a mutual respect.

I just want to see us go to war each and every week.

As long as it's a rout. I'd hate to see massive casualties after a prolonged siege.
More mindset, not ‘treat every game like the GF’. Haha.

I've been reading Phil Jackson's book "Eleven Rings" and the other night came across a passage talking about the other Bulls players relationship with Michael Jordan. They used to go to Scottie Pippen a lot more as a leader, because he seemed a lot more like them while Michael and using a direct quote from Steve Kerr: "Michael was such a dominant presence that, at times, he didn't appear human. Nothing could get to Michael. Scottie was more human, more vulnerable like us."

Both of those are big concerns. Goldstein will eat Darcy for Breakfast. There isn’t a 20 year old ruck that can match the older ruckman. We need Sandilands for round 1. I haven’t heard anyone mention Sandilands training since before Christmas.
Goldstein? It's not 2015, it would be really worrying if Goldstein towels Darcy up this year
