Not really a competition, I got out my old (ish) footy cards the other day and I was amazed with some of the rare/valuable Richmond cards I had collected (my jewel is a personally signed Trent Cotchin prize card from 2014). Not interested in acquiring, just would like to have a thread dedicated to old or vintage tiger footy cards, if one dosen't exist already.

Probably my
1908 Sniders & Abrahams Series D VFL Richmond Team Set X 5

First year in the VFL too - bet the cards for University were as valuable too.

Your right it being RFC first year in the VFL
The University cards are very, very rare
Haven't seen any for sale as yet and I have been collecting for 20+ years
I have complete sets 1933/1934 Wills, Allens, Hoadleys cards that should be worn a few thousand each set in 10+ years
Going to will them to my 5 year old granddaughter!!!!!

My number 1 favourite and the jewel in the crown is
1996 Select AFL Series 2 Limited Edition Legend Signature Card SC1 Jack Dyer (265/500)
The legend himself, hand signed when he was 70+ old

just some of the complete sets I have
Most are 50+ card sets, mint condition
They will only keep going up in price the longer you keep them. Dunno how you've got them stored but keep them out of UV. If they are in plastic sleeves make sure it's non acidic plastic. I have a few old comics and I store them out of the sun in Mylar bags. Dunno if Mylar sleeves are available for cards but easily got for comics (about $2 each).

Yes DickieKnee
They're in non acidic sleeves, stored in a safe, in a non smoking/moisture area of my storage shed
I take scans of each set then store them, so if I want to look at them I look at the scans
Hope my granddaughter appreciates them when I pass away

Would the mother of your granddaughter consider adopting me please?:D

Not true. They will only go up in value while people still want them. I've seen some series from the 1930s and 1940s for example really drop off. 1980s have gone from worth something to now can barely even give them away, prices halved and more.

But with old school collectors dying off and not being replaced - because old footy cards can't be downloaded - I think we will find that, with a few exceptions, the values drop even further.
