Saw them in a practice match yesterday and they look terrible. No forward line, players that fluked them to the grand final last year look like b graders at best. Their heart has been destroyed by West Coast.

Not good signs. Im predicting a 9th to 12th position finish on the 2019 ladder.

Both teams had important and capable players missing.

But the key difference was in the ruck. Melbourne, with Gawn against an undersized rookie Max Lynch, had control of the centre and clearances.

Pies also experimented a bit more across the day I think. Tyler Brown, Callum Brown, Wills, Josh Thomas all running through the centre.
Melbourne played Sparrow there for a period but had plenty of hard bodies - Brayshaw, Petracca most of the day.

Up forward we had DeGoey, WHE and Stephenson missing - all of whom kicked ~40 goals last season, so again, the call on our forward line is probably presumptuous.

To be making such calls against Collingwood, on the back of that performance, is pretty fanciful and likely just a sh&t stir.
