Congrats to City. Magma and moomba are good value so it’s hard not to be happy for them.

As for Chelsea, don’t know where we go from here. What really disappoints me is that I thought Sarri had a really good day from a managerial perspective and it’s now going to be overshadowed by Kepa’s petulance. He did almost everything right today and could’ve pulled off a miracle against a quality side in a final.

I also thought RLC and CHO made us look much more lively. Nevin was full of praise for CHO after the game. I really want them to start more games. Hopefully Sarri is slowly coming around. How we finished is how I’d like to see us start going forward with a midfield of Kante, Jorginho and RLC and HHH up top.

Is anyone really buying the misunderstanding card?
Misunderstanding probably not, but there was definitely some confusion going on. Sarri looked like he wanted to make a tactical sub (not necessarily because Kepa was injured, although that would’ve been part of the reason).. and Kepa thought he was being dragged because of his injury and wanted to clarify that he was okay. Still unacceptable but (from my point of view at least) moments like this have happened before where the player has said he’s right to go and that’s the end of it. Just happens that Sarri wanted Caballero out there from a tactical view as well and that was lost a bit from the touchline to the keeper.

i kind of do. it's not impossible. he's just gone down injured, lots of noise, lots of shouting, high pressure situation. it's a terrible look but i dont think it can be ruled out.

Very plausible Kepa was saying he’s fit enough to continue (hence the continued thumbs up, that’s what it looked like he meant).

However, plenty of time elapsed for him to get the message. The reaction of Sarri and Zola should’ve been enough for Kepa to realise there’s more to the substitution than just a potential injury.

It’s all hypothetical now, but you do wonder how Willy would have gone in goal. He knows a thing or two about City’s penalty takers and has been on this stage before.

A shame for Chelsea they’ll never get to find out.

Karma for Kepa there to lose the shootout. Absolutely pathetic behaviour. Dropped and fined is being lenient chef.

I wouldn’t want a player fined if that happened here, I’d gladly watch as Pochettino froze him out then sold his arse.

I'm not. Willy has a fantastic shootout record and I doubt Sarri would have saved a sub that late for any other reason than a tactical change. In addition I'm sure it would have been brought up pre-game with the keepers that if it goes to pens we'll be bringing on Caballero.

Didnt Poch let off Lloris for drink driving this season?

Who really knows, but from the vision, Sarri and Zola were not happy at all, and the message would’ve got to Kepa and then back to Sarri and if it was a misunderstanding, I don’t think Sarri storms off like he did.

Kepa just didn’t want to be subbed off, thats what it looked like.

Apples and oranges chef. It was in his personal life.
He was fined by the club from memory.

I think you’ll find that those who have disregarded his rule on field and at training have been met with swift action. Plenty of examples too.

That’s what you need, for too long the players run Chelsea. Win a trophy or two, fall out with manager. Wait it out, Roman sacks manager. Rinse and repeat.

Make an example of one and see how many sit up straight and take notice.

Said it before and I'll say it again. This rotten culture being displayed at Chelsea is all Roman's fault not backing in his managers.

I suppose it’s the way they roll. I think over the past 10 years they’ve been the most successful English club, so although there’s blow ups every couple of seasons they have been able to still win high honours.

This time around does feel different for them though, their squad isn’t as strong as previous times.

Feel pretty bad for Sarri, this result was a decent outcome given our recent form. The Kepa thing is bullshit and he should and will be disciplined by the club. Sarri appears to have well and truely lost the dressing room. This is going to be a messy few weeks especially with the transfer ban being appealed.

Hazard is not a leader. He doesnt give enough of a f**k to play seriously and take shots on target and instead tries unselfish fancy assists that often get broken up. He will never get into the same category as Messi or Ronaldo because of it.

At the end of the match i cant understand several Chelsea players patting Kepa on the back as if to say "well done". He publicly went against his own manager and humiliated him, so what does it say if the players immediately after losing publicly support Kepa? A whole squad cleanout is needed. Keep Hudson-Odoi, Kante and Higuain and trade the rest. Culture is beyond repair at this point.

Genuinely feel sorry for Sarri.

What can you actually do in that situation. Run on the ground and drag him off? Did the ref give him a time deadline? Potentially he was risking a yellow or red card for time wasting if Sarri didn’t back down?

Fair enough, I do want us to make an example of Kepa. Fined and banned for 3 games or so and I'll be happy.

This misunderstanding talk makes me sick though, this season is just one disaster to the next.

This is tough viewing and I feel for Sarri so bad. The leaders of this club are letting him(and the previous 2 guys) down so badly.

TBH theres a guy with captain on his arm who should have went over to Kepa and told him to get off the field, where was Azpi in all this?

He's not a leader.

The fact he sits down, play restarts and then he still wants to make the sub makes it pretty clear it’s a change he wanted to make in the interests of giving the team its best chance of a win in the shootout. Regardless of if Kepa was fully recovered or not
