Again, another disappointing rnd 1 for us. Essentially we do not have the experience to win these tough games against top 4 teams. We need everyone to lift and that didn't happen. Composure and intensity is lacking.

Picked it like a dirty nose. In it till 3qtr time and then blown away.

1st qtr was pathetic, 2nd and 3rd better and then overrun, still young and can't match it with the big boys in fitness.

Older blokes were good, cripps, Murphy, Thomas, simmo. Walsh, setterfield, DC, newman had their moments

Disappointed in Charlie, SPS, Fisher. Charlie absolutely shithouse, SPS missing for first 45 mins, was good the next 45 but needs to be a 4qtr player now. Fisher was quiet early, played dumb and cost is so many turnovers/goals.

Garlett, fasolo, gibbons did nothing. Same as ed.

Oh well onto next week.

Can’t fathom why Fasolo played!
Charlie needs a kick up the arse.. would just send him to VFL to show the team no matter your name you don’t perform.. off to VFL.
Dow still too many fumbles and has no second burst.

Next week no Jones due to suspension.. I’d drop Gibbons and Fasolo.. Charlie luckily will prob survive.

Really poor first and last quarters cost us. Good for the middle quarters.

Can't forget midfield is still young...they looked gassed in the last quarter unfortunately, couldn't get anything going.
But they showed they can play well and will be a force soon.

Charlie Curnow worst on ground...absolute shocker. Apart from a lucky goal out the back did nothing...our midfield would do good work to kick the ball to him only for Richmond to consistently win the contest and rebound.

Gibbons a bit quiet but i thought he did alright for his first game...a few nice defensive efforts
Setterfield looks a player
Walsh a gun...ran the most km's and right up there in possessions...a few rushed disposals early but he settled in well
McGovern showed some good signs...happy with his game especially given an injury interrupted preperation

Gonna nip this in the bud first chance I can get. Phillips was one of our worst on ground, by a fair way. Nankervis kicked 3 goals all running goal side of Phillips, who was unable to go with him. Phillips did nothing offensively either, then... In the last quarter Mckay was forced to ruck about half of it, maybe longer because Phillips is simply not fit enough. That advantage is directly responsible for the run of goals Richmond got middle of the last and what lost us any chance of a last quarter rally. I hope to god Kreuzer or Lobbe are fit enough for next week.


In other news I really liked Weitering's game. Sps was brilliant in the 2nd and third when the coach put him nearer the action. Setters showed heaps, Murphy was good, gov was good considering his fitness base and Harry mac was exciting.

Gotta hope this was just a blip for the Curnow bros. Yeesh

Not sure why all the anger for SPS. He was fine. Made a couple of errors but his passing was great in the second and third. Bigger issues with the Curnow brothers. Also not convinced with Garlett who looks and plays like a stop gap.

Half and half on Phillips. Has zero mobility around the ground but is a fantastic tap ruckman. The thing is you need both.

At the end of the day our poor entries into the 50 and our deplorable skills killed us.

Didn’t see much of a fitness improvement in the last quarter either.

Anyway Walsh was great. Setters looks great. Cunners was great. Dow had moments. So did Fish. It’s not all resting on Crippa now. And if we hit our targets it would have been a closer game.

I was dows biggest fan at the start of last year. He fumbles WAY too much for a top line player. He is reminding me of a better sam kerridge. Absolutely killed us a few times tonight. He's set shot was horrid too.

Hope he pulls it together. Must be a confidence player because I've seen him do some judd like stuff.

Hate that we lost, but there was plenty to like tonight. The margin was not a true indicator of the contest.

Walsh is obviously a gun, but the efforts of Setterfield, Dow, Fisher, Cuningham etc indicate we have plenty of good times ahead.

There's an intent and quality to our play which hasn't been in evidence in recent years.

Again, I hate that we lost, but there are going to be more wins this season than predicted by the 'experts'.

Would've taken that scoreline after the 1st, but left with a bit of a bitter taste after that last term.

That being said you can see we're better this year already, Walsh, Newman and Setters add so much to us, Crippa is genuinely other worldly.

IMO if Charlie doesn't have arguably his worst game then we win this. Carn the Baggers!!!

Plenty to like about the way we grinded back into the game but same old issues killing off any chance of victory .
Basic errors resulting in opposition goals running out of gas and we will not be going anywhere of significance until we can stop the ease of the opposition waltzing out of our forward line and setting up further goals from defence .
