Rusty performance. Nice first quarter, and really good last.

Some guys were so off tonight - Jack, Tom's marking, Butler, even Dusty.

Cotch and Nank were awesome. the smaller Jack's rock. Bachar, Prestia, the awesome Sheds, Grimes, Dave very good.

Our best is so much better than them. Our non-effort sucked. Got that first game done and we'll move on.

So two options Balta to the backline Soldo in.

Or

Garthwaite

Until Garthwaite is ready I favour Balta but it will be a wild and frustrating ride

I think there are a few things we need to sort out.

I would shift Balta in the backline when necessary. I do not want another tall in to make us too top heavy. Balta still have to pinch hit ruck and may go elsewhere depending on matchups. McIntosh could drift back at times to at half back.

In regard to the top heavy part I think Lynch needs to drift closer to half forward a little, we need to bring in a mid I think. Not sure who, not sure how far Caddy/Castagna are. Its an interesting one. If Riley Collier Dawkins was in his second or third year I probably would bring him in but he is not ready yet. When Caddy is ready he needs to come in,

Based on the superior composure of Edwards, Graham and Higgins compared to others it will be harder for them to get dropped during the year!!

I agree with Dimma, gee with left some goals out there!!!

Is Garthwaite the only young tall who's a legitimate chance to come in?

Reckon Garth might be a little way off. Not much of a preseason he’d be pretty underdone

Who else? Miller? The cupboard's pretty bare for young key backs.

Rance injury soured the win for me.

First quarter we looked like the year was ours for the taking, the second and 3rd quarter was so bloody frustating and I questioned whether we really cared, the last quarter was the players doing it for Rance and you can tell by the end of the match how shattered everyone was except Rance.

Speaks volumes about Alex Rance no matter what the haters think of him, I'm just gutted TBH a winning Richmond has Alex Rance coming off the ground high fiving everyone and we wont have that for a year.

Would be great to beat the pies next week without Rance but it would feel better if he was playing.

Coupla points
Rance injury is a downer but we were all worried that Garth was not getting a shot- well he will now get his shot - will slot right in IMO

& Sheds is just so much fun to watch.
So smooth and creative- still massively underated.

Balta for a while I think until Garth is fit. I’m not sure Miller is anywhere near it currently.
