Official now, acl,by the message I received on the RFC app.

How classy is Rance to take it by the chin, enjoy life Rancey and we will see you back and firing soon.

I feel disappointed for Rance but it's hard to feel too sorry for the supporters. Have been absolutely kissed with no injuries the last couple of years when others teams has as many as 10 players from their best 22 out regularly
Believe it or not we don’t want you to feel sorry for us.

Rance is the one you should be feeling disappointed for, he’s the one with the season ending injury.

Yeah it sucks as a supporter but most of us are choosing to think of it as an opportunity and we’ll 100% support whoever comes in for him.

What's the point of the last part?
I don't feel sorry for Melbourne supporters for their tanking years, some teams still have less premierships.
Why come here and say that?

Big ups to all the oppo supporters who have come here with their well wishes. I think it shows we all love a bit of banter but hate when our best players go down. Respect to all u good ppl
Tbh the majority of posters on BF have been really good. There’s the odd dickhead but they are firmly in the minority.
Some of the shit on other socials is pretty toxic though.

At 30 years of age doesn’t rancey fit into that category? I don’t know enough about it but imagine getting him back this year and having him for the back half of our season?
Having had both done yourself, what was ur experience with both?

To be honest I didn't actually realise he was that 'old'. Makes for a interesting discussion given his desire to do other things with his life, maybe a quicker return is better suited to him?

For me personally I would pick the LARS every day of the week.

recovery from traditional reco:
-bed bound for 1-2 weeks with minimal movement
-on crutches for 7-8 weeks
-weight bare with crutches around 9-10 weeks
-walking without crutches around 12-14 weeks +

recovery from LARS:
-up and out of bed the next day
-Weight bare with crutches the next day
-was walking without crutches at the 3-4 week mark

the difference in recovery was amazing.

However I think i have done something to the knee again a couple of years ago when playing soccer. I'm not sure if its ACL but it doesn't feel right in certain movements. could be cartlidge though.

I am gutted for him and us but we will see what the future could look like in the next few months. A door has opened early for someone, and in our culture I am backing they will grab it with both hands

can't believe what with the gloomy s**t....

I'm sure Rance would have sat there thinking...well........we had the minutes silence to remember ppl in Christchurch..and I'm gonna whinge/moan about my knee ??

2017, lost talls, forced to play smalls, Premiers.

He is a physical specimen, he will recover well and be back 2020.

Will he back round 1 or does it mean he is out for 12 months and THEN has to do a preseason?

Positive #1 - We find out who else will be a good backman for us (Garthwaite / Balta)

Positive #2 - We are no longer favourites, we can play with a bit more freedom

Positive #3 - If he is back Round 1 2020, with a full year into Ross / Collier-Dawkins, we'll be looking damn strong on all lines in 2020.

Negative #1 - Might be my last season in Aus before going back to Japan, so I'm shattered. ****.

Best wishes Rancey, we're with ya mate.

The interview with Rance today and the way he responded - all class. I posted on our team board that how an individual responds to adversity gives insight on the type of person they are. You want people like this involved in every club to build your culture.

Gutted for Rance, the playing group and us supporters

Classy the way Rance has gone about it - he knew it was serious when it first happened but chose to be positive for the boys...true champion

And you just know he will work closely with whoever takes his spot ( Garth/ Balta) that’s the way he rolls....that’s the way our club rolls

I don’t think Garth can go straight in yet though as doesent he still have Achilles problems ?

Good to see from the article on the AFL website that opposition players are a lot more classier than some of their supporters.

Apparently Rance has been getting an outpouring of love and well wishes from opposition players, good to read. :)

Quality bloke-

"I've had some amazing outreaches of love," Rance said.

"Daisy Thomas, Paddy McCartin, Scott Pendlebury, Trav Boak, Cal Ward … there's been a heap more, sorry if I've missed anybody who reached out.

"It really does show that there's a lot of family in footy, and as much as we're competitors and fierce rivals, there's still so much love. Nobody wants to see anyone go down and I really do appreciate that. I know my teammates love and care for me, so I'm very grateful for that."
