It all started when we selected David Mackay. A stupid, idiotic, disgusting selection that immediately threw up red flags. Did we learn from last year? Obviously not judging from that one decision before the game even started. Can't move forward when we have pathetic decision making like that.

It looked like our players had done everything but play football over the off season. Horrendous skills. Destroyed in the air. Destroyed on the ground. Mutilated in the forward line. Annihilated by a severely undermanned Hawthorn midfield. An absolutely pathetic performance. The players should be ashamed.

Don Pyke had his pants pulled down. His pants were then taken off and thrown in the river. It was like he was coaching with his penis exposed to the players and that's all the players could think about throughout the match. He needs to take ownership, put his pants back on and learn. If I hear excuses like "we just needed to execute better" I might vomit.

Douglas is shit. Mackay is shit. Jacobs is cooked. Walker is cooked. Lynch is soft. Jenkins sucks. Betts is finished. Knight did nothing. Murphy did nothing. Milera was awful. Laird was bad. Kelly tried but he just sucks. Gibbs was useless.

And then Doedee does his ACL. Well **** me the signs aren't good

Pyke will call his mentor this week and ask how he went. Neil Craig will respond by saying that they just need to work harder but that experience and continuity will eventually win the day.

OK, you, Kane and the Crow from Fiji and the AFL site and probably others all think he played well.
That's OK, no worries :thumbsu:.
I didn't. I disagree :). I'm allowed to and I've given reasons why. I like the bloke and think he will become an asset.
He had 20 possessions, 13/7, but used several of them poorly --- it's not always about how often you touch the ball but how you use it. He marks and goes back to take the kick = little run-on and slow thinker, at this stage.

correct. you are absolutely allowed to think Keath played badly

what you aren't allowed to do is expect to be taken seriously when doing so. it's so far from reality it's not even a joke anymore.

As for Jacobs, he is beyond cooked, he’s burnt to a crisp.

McEvoy killed him.

Jacobs taps went nowhere. He can’t move around the ground. He is next to useless.

How we didn’t address our rucks in the off-season when we knew what he had and what we are aiming for this year is a shocking piece of list management.

This is yet one more example of the club being too soft, it would hurt Jacobs feelings if we traded in another ruckman.

Ffs blind Freedy can see (saw over the last 18 months) how stuffed Sauce is, yet we failed to address it.

Really mind boggling how complacent we are on field (selections) and off field (list management).

Very easy to see why its been 20+ years since our last flag, our Dynasty of Complacency still has many years to go.

Thankyou Mr Chapman and thank you Mr Trigg.

In terms of a monumental letdown from expectations of this year and what i witnessed this just about takes the cake as a Crows supporter.

Firstly the good. Sloane. Crouches. Keath. We know the real footballers in this group.

So similar to the 2017 grand final it isnt funny. Clarko had a plan. Pressure and structure and we shit ourselves.

Our players are mentally weak. Its almost as if panic went through the entire playing group. No one wanted to take the game on, it was asif we were more worried about making a mistake then giving it an honest go.
The fumbles and turnovers were disgusting. I fell off my chair at least 3 times

*special mentions*
Mackay - just beyond saying anything about this spud.

Douglas - wow he is finished. Holy ****.

Walker - I always defended Tex for injuries but its obvious he will never be at the levels he once was which is devastating. He lost a yard of pace and is a lumbering mess. Has been for a while

Atkins - soft as butter. So many squib efforts. Its embarrassing. So talented as well.

Smith - looked cooked. Devoid of confidence as well. Didnt want to kick it.

Doedee - oh man...

Pyke - when your plan B is chipping it around with the knuckleball kicks of kelly and keath (add harto soon) we are in some serious shit.

Im all for a loss. But this reeks of a poorly run club

A lot of it was sh*t.

The worst is that we basically went in with smalls in the 50, but bombed it in. It's like our coaches went "Yep, let's go small, everyone's doing it!" and left it at that. Utterly inept coaching overall, totally schooled by Clarkson who is an absolute master. The most stubborn, no-nonsense structure I've ever seen. We look like absolute fools against well coached teams.

Gutted for Doedee. No replacement for him, and we just forced Cheney in to retirement.

How quick things change. It's not over, but I suspect it will be a long season.

Agree completely.

This is another coaching failure.

Terrible method. No system. Still chasing tails and not maintaining space.

Our kick outs from points - how the **** are they still ****ed?

Pardon the intrusion but it appears to me that your forward line is the crux of most of your problems. There is no x factor down there- an ageing Betts and the absence of Cameron and McGovern means a hopeful bomb inside 50 won't bear any fruit. On a positive note your midfield is well above average but Jacobs desperately needs some support.
Just an observation from afar
Your right actually. Walker is cooked. Jenkins is a downward skier. Betts is close to cooked. Lynch is soft. We have some x-factor players but they don't get picked over the favourites on big overpayed contracts who dont perform. The other xfactor players left as you point out. The problems are off the field in list management which have caused the on field problems. The club has basically overvalued the list for years. This is the age old problem of most clubs that never have success. The truth hurts average clubs so they just turn a blind eye to it and keep overvauling their list.

So in an effort to make amends to the torture camp last year. We made it a fun camp this preseason?

Nice pykey.

Remember Pyke the opposite of crazy is still crazy.

It was a pathetic performance but we have seen a few this weekend. The premiers were mauled by Brisbane, Sydney were outplayed by the Bullies and Melbourne fell apart to Port. That is 3 very good sides from last year capitulating to the bottom half clubs.

Hawks also have had a run since last year winning a lot of games, they are back.

We do have serious issues with a terrible forward line (Fog, Himmelberg, Davis should be getting a run), and our defence fell apart without Dude.

Three things:

1) you have to be one of the most positive people on the planet to support the crows. Year by year it gets more deflating.

2) tex is finished.

3) if you dont have a tall forward who can take a contested mark you will be in trouble. Need to try fog and/or himmelberg asap.
Let alone make the distance from 35 metres. Yes, I'm talking about you Josh Jenkins. Right in front of where I was sitting. I said at the moment, Erin Phillips makes you look like an amateur footballer.

We will never, ever be successful until we ACCEPT at an organizational level, that players such as David Mackay are not good enough.

It's not just about him as a player. It's about the chain of decision making that leads to his selection. It's all wrong
While Campo is there, that spud is a walk up start.

If those are the forward structures we’ve worked on all preseason, where the **** do we go from here.

I know this isn’t the popular opinion but I didn’t mind some of the things I saw from tex. Was rusty, but was getting his hands on the ball a lot more than he did last season.

Maybe Tex and Eddie are cooked. But if they are, so is our season. I don’t see how we salvage a run at the flag without those two front and centre of the charge.

But I don’t think there is any hope if we combine a declining Tex and Eddie with disfunctional forward structures. Although it’s only one game into this season, the fact is that our forward structures have been poor ever since Teague left.

**** me it’s depressing to think that we are relying on a failed backline coach to fix a failing forward line on the fly in the remaining 21 games if we are any hope or winning a flag. The way our forwards were dragging their man to the drop of the ball and just letting them go in 3rd man uncontested was as bad as I can ever remember seeing from our forward line. There was no positive movement off the ball. To a man, every forward was letting their opponent take front position and were last to react.

Hart has had the whole preseason to work with these guys bragging about how we had a full list to work with. And that was the best we could come up with.

Doedee + that insipid performance makes yesterday one of the worst days as a crows fan for me. Just gutted.

Betts tried and was nearly there. Had we been collectively better he would have had more opportunities

Walker was awful. Injuries aren't the problem. He's done. Finished. He's lost the one thing he was good at (marking on the lead) so why bother any more.

Jacobs... Well he's been cooked for a while now
A rotisserie turns faster than Sauce.

What i would do, bring in Greewood for Murphy, Seed for DMAC and Fog for Doodee. I would also go with Hunter over ROB n Sauce, at least he can jump and has agression.

Been saying it for a while and looks like I still will, I can’t stand Bryce Gibbs. Collecting a pay check, nothing more. Gutless downhill skier.
Gibbs was a really good player at Carlton (even having a good season after trying to get traded out). Then the very moment we get him he becomes a shadow of his former self. FMD.

It truly is disgusting how cowardly and stubborn the club is with regard to change. There must be a very strong groupthink mentality in the senior management ranks.

Any outsider with half a brain can see obvious shit like Jacobs running out of steam but our senior coaches/management just peck at the floor like chickens 'Jacobs is best 22, Jacobs is best 22, Jacobs is best 22' 'Burton was the best person for the job, Burton was the best person for the job' 'Mackay must play, Mackay must play' 'We'll back in our structures, we'll back in our structures'

It's farcical.
