I think you all need to take a deep breath and relax FFS.

It was Round 1 and if every other game proved anything, it's that the competition has evened out even more than last year.

There's also the fact that all sides would have been blowing out the cobwebs and it takes a couple of rounds before everyone is generally playing at the level they want to be.

Some of the things being said here is totally disgraceful and almost Carlton or St Kilda like and to be honest, I thought you lot were better than that.

Your mods will certainly be busy cleaning alot of this dribble up, there's no way known our mods would tolerate such venomous statements aimed at our own.

You all need to relax and keep your chins up because you will be there, come the pointy end of the season and I would like to think you were just as much outcoached as you were outplayed.

The real thing you guys and girls should be disappointed with is the injury to Doedee because he's a great kid and although he's only played a handful of games, he's one of your better players.

I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery because injuries like that are gruesome, regardless of what colours they wear.

All the best for the season and please try to put the pitchforks away.

If we'd won 4 flags in 10 years I'd probably agree.

Didn't Hardwick consult Clarkson in the week before the GF. I wonder if part of Clarksons advice was relentless pressure at the man and contest, cut off their space and they will fold like a house of cards.

Correct and if you watched the game on TV you would have also noticed that during the pregame vision, the cameras caught both Clarkson and Hardwick in a private room allegedly discussing tactics for near an hour.

Very close they are and whatever was discussed obviously helped given the result.

I've also been told that Hardwick contacted Clarkson at the end of the 2016 season and asked for advice/assistance in turning the teams fortunes around.

I can't say this 100% happened but my source is usually pretty bloody bang on.

Kelly just doesn't have polish. Under pressure he is poor, which can be very damaging considering where he plays. I don't mind him, but when the heat is on he gets found out

Yeah, he's not even close to AFL standard. Every single team has worked us out when he plays just pressure him and you're almost guaranteed an easy goal. NFG.

We've seen bad times too mate, days alot darker than what you're going though now.

Chin up and take the good with the bad, you have a side more than capable of shaking the competition up and you'll be there come finals.

i think we should move Gibbs back to cover for Doedee. There isn't room for him in the middle and he started his career down back so it could work. I just hope we don't put Mackay down back...

Everyone needs to lay off Tex. He had a pretty good preseason and all of our forwards lookes rubbish yesterday. I still see him kicking 40 this year and proving everyone wrong.

I have to agree regarding Jacobs, he has looked cooked for a long time. I'd even prefer us playing Jenkins as a mobile ruck and getting Fogarty up forward. He would be one of the few players that could take a contested mark.

Why does a player so clearly struggling physically continue to push as far forward as our goal square to take a ruck contest when JJ is mere metres away? Hang back, catch a breather, set up in a zone. Not Sauce, he knows that maxing out on hit outs keeps him off the radar. He’ll play all year, he’s as selfish a player as they come.

Well technically it was 4 flags in 8 years, but who's counting.

It hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows for us either mate.

The longest period you've gone without a premiership since the mid 1960s is 15 years.

We're comfortably up to 20 years and counting

Feel that's pretty unfair 1 coach consulting with another to conspire to topple another team. Would like to beat a team fair and square. Obviously the Scott boys do it and I would assume most coaches have private conversations over the phone but it's unusual in world sport 1 team helping another I would assume. Shows you that our coaches have a lot to learn in regards to analysing a team and getting information any way you can.

Of course a Hawthorn fan would think we're being harsh. They have no idea what failure looks like

Come back to me when your lot are facing the very real possibility of merging with those cheese and cracker eating muppets.

It's early days as far as the season is concerned, just try to enjoy it as much as you can.

I know that, but when you hadn't won a flag for 15 years, were you asking serious questions about your club's culture? I bet you were.

That's fine, you barrack for the most successful club over the last 20 years. Try barracking for a club you know deep down have little chance of winning a flag for 20 years run by a bunch of incompetents who hire mates and don't give a **** about onfield success as long as the ground is full. Trust me, it wears thin.

You may very well be right, I was just surprised by alot of the animosity here and wanted to just politely and positively let you all know that things aren't as diabolical as they may appear.

Seriously someone thread ban this hawthorn muppet.

The last thing any of us want or need is to be lectured by a ******* arrogant "oh I feel your pain" hawthorn **********.
Pretty uncalled for, he hasn't done anything wrong & was just offering some perspective that some should probably take on board. It's one loss at this point, sure it sucks but it's a long season and all sides have days they'd rather forget. It's how we respond next week that will count and there would want to be something.

Any other year I'd wake up flat as a tack, angry, watching replays for answers. Dreading the season, etc. But I feel largely "meh".

I think walking out of the 2017 GF knowing that was basically our chance with the Talia/Jacobs/Walker/Betts core, and we blew it, has made me largely accept it.

I dunno.

Much the same. Footy just hasn't had the same impact since then. I never expected a win yesterday but had hopes. Walking out I wasn't pissed off, was just worried about getting home and watching something that's not footy.

The Gws Himmelberg is the player we need to get. Just watching now gws v Essendon. Great player.

Nah its totally called for. This kind of faux empathetic lecturing is a subtle but targeted troll.

As for the rest of your clichèd spiel, its only one loss let's see how the boys respond something something potato.

I think this is a where a lot of people are really struggling at the moment. We got to the grand final, we had a chance and we simply didn't take it or even a match worthy of being proud of so can't take much away from it. Plenty of us are clinging onto hope that we could rebound this year and give it one more shake before starting to somewhat rebuild the list in a new direction. A loss like yesterday probably has really crushed that hope for many which is why this loss is being taken so much worse than simply losing a game of footy.

Unfortunately we all know too well how long it took for us to get to the grand final again so the prospect of somewhat starting over to rebuild and take another shot is somewhat deflating.

I'm with you, the last thing we need today is a condescending prick infesting OUR board.

With all due respect I don't think you do.

Our club was almost at the point of extinction, at the point of a merger with Melbourne back in 1996.

At it wasn't because of a lack of success either because we'd won 8 flags in the 25 years prior.

It was due to being financially crippled to the point where we had the AFL stick their dirty noses in trying to make us merge with a club that were financially strong, yet hadn't tasted success in over 30 years.

However as a club and supporter base we stayed strong, stayed united and stayed deviant, rising up out of the ashes.

Although we did still have a considerable time after that getting back on our feet in relation to onfield success.

But though hardwork, dedication and unity we eventually turned that around and to be entirely honest, the good times taste all the sweeter because of those bad times we had.

I know that the majority of the competition like to take the piss out of us and belittle us at any given opportunity, but I see that being more a case of jealousy and envy than anything else.

If people actually understood the troubles that we've been through and what we stand for as a club, then maybe they would be a little more understanding and respectful.

Anyway, enough on that.

While times for you all as a supporter base may seem tough at the moment, it's how you approach and attack it that will determine you as a club.

You need to stay positive and stay united if you wish to get back on your feet, if you continue to stay divided you'll simply fall on your knees.

You are facing Sydney next week and judging from both teams efforts this week, you should account for them quite easily.

Good luck for the game and also the rest of the season.
